For sale is a 1966 Honda CA72 Dream 250.
It has a clear title in my name and is for sale locally, reserve the right to end this auction if sold locally.
I bought this a few years ago with a blown engine and the transmission wouldn't shift.
It has new:
.50 pistons, iston rings, lips and pinsTransmission shafts, ears and shift drumClutch and throttle cableNew speedometerCam chain and cam chain tensionerBrand new sealed battery
The original mufflers were rotted through and they were replaced with Emgo Dunstall replicas. The only thing this bike is missing is the original chain guards and a speedometer cable.
There was frame damage on the rear fender (probably where a passenger sat at one point) that has been welded and repaired.
The bike has been painted with auto two part enamel in original "Honda White". The paint is not perfect, here are nicks, hips and peeling around the gas tank opening.
New gaskets were used everywhere on the engine, ut there is some seeping from the cam chain tensioner, t could use a new gasket. There is also a seep from the kickstart seal.
The sealed headlight was replaced by cutting a hole in the rear of the dome and inserting an aftermarket bulb. This bike would be a great candidate for an H4 conversion.
All electronics work, ush button start, ickstart, eadlight, aillight, orn.
The bike runs flawlessly, he valves are loud and so is the exhaust. The tappets have flattened their dome shape over time and click loudly. This does not effect the engine, nd new tappets are easy to install and could be bought for under $20. The new transmission shifts great and I ride it to work several days a week.
The tires are in good shape and useable (the rims are in beautiful shape), he drive chain is new, he brakes leave something to be desired but that's typical for a Dream. A new brake cable may help, his is the original cable and doesn't have the oomph that it used to.
The speedometer is brand new, t shows 1 MILE. The engine and transmission rebuild was completed in January of 2016 and less 100 miles have been put on the bike since then. It's hard to ride anywhere in the snow in the midwest.
There are several "personal touches" that help keep a 50 year old bike on the road. Such as, 've bypassed the original petcock (which is still attached to the tank) with an aftermarket petcock. The battery tray is missing its strap and needs spot welded to the frame on the side that the brake switch is attached to. It functions perfectly.
I have the original seat if you'd like to put a new cover on it and go back to the original design. I also have a few extra other pieces for the Dream. Again, he only things it does NOT have are the chain guards and a speedometer cable.
If you'd like a classic and hard to find model Dream that has been treated and built well, eel free to bid. I've tried to be honest about everything that gives this old bike some character but if you have more questions, lease contact me through eBay.
I do not have the ability to ship this motorcycle, refer local pickup. If buyer so desires, e can arrange shipping, ut I have no knowledge of local shipping companies. It is the buyer's responsibility to arrange and facilitate the shipment of the bike. I will be happy to help if need be.
