1980 Honda CX500 Deluxe

Up for auction today is a 1980 Honda CX500 Deluxe with a clear title.   I am only the 2nd owner of this motorcycle.   When I bought the bike in 1998. it had 1441 miles on it.   It now has 30. 88. 0 miles.   It has been to Toronto. Canada. twice and was used as a daily driver. in warm weather. for several years.   It has seen plenty of weather and miles.   I parked it a few years ago with the intent of working on it to restore it to some of it's former glory.   I never really finished the job. though.   The bike was kept under a tarp for the last few years. The motorcycle is being sold AS-IS with No Warranty.   Overall. the bike is in fair to good condition. imho.   It has some rust and pitting on the chrome. which is expected on a 34 year old motorcycle that was driven daily.   The left side muffler is in better shape than the right side.   I think the tarp may have leaked on that side for a while.   The side panels have faded somewhat and the pinstriping has flaked off in spots as well.   The gas tank was purchased on eBay a few years ago as a New-Old-Stock item.   It was in the original box and I was told it had never been on a motorcycle.   The paint is in very good condition with some minor scuffs.   I tried to show this in the photos. but the reflections make it difficult to see the scuffs.   There is also some paint chipping on the edges of the tank near the front.   The inside of the tank has a few rust spots visible. but seems to be in pretty good shape. The seat is in very good condition and was purchased on eBay several years ago.   It is the correct seat pan. but looks to have been recovered with a different style seat cover. The motorcycle was in good running condition when I parked it.   I do not have a battery for it and there is no coolant in the engine. so I am not able to test it now.   The motorcycle will need new tires and some work on the front brakes as well as changing/replacing all the fluids.   The trip meter is not functional. but the other gauges were working when the bike was parked.   The dust covers on the forks are dry rotted and are splitting.   The fork seals look to be in good condition and are not leaking. Please check the photos carefully!  What you see is what you will be getting.   I have tried to show everything in the photos. but I may have missed some things.   If you want additional photos of specific areas/parts of the motorcycle. let me know what/where and I will be glad to add the photos to the auction.   Feel free to ask me any questions you may have. also. I have a utility trailer and am willing to transport the motorcycle within 100 miles for a fee of $2 per mile.   Otherwise. you are responsible for pickup and delivery of the motorcycle.   I will work with you when you are arranging for pickup/delivery.
