OK. This is a LOW RESERVE 10 DAY Auction. Some lucky bidder will own this rare exotic bike soon.
See this bike at the Barber Vintage Festival near Birmingham. AL under the Motorcycle Classics Magazine tent. Details here.
You can also watch it run the 4-lap ??parade" of the Barber racetrack on Saturday afternoon with me aboard. I ran this event last year and LOVED it!
You will not find another bike like this! I?ve been told that this is one of the world?s most famous GoldWings. This one is unique in many respects. I run a business focused on restoration resources for vintage Hondas including the GL1000: www. randakks. com and I?ve built several supercharged show bikes to promote the business. This bike is from my personal collection.
Unique machine for the collector who wants a special bike that goes as good as it looks. Draws a crowd wherever it appears. Proprietary "one-off" supercharger setup. Build cost exceeded $35K+.

Features:
??One-off?? supercharger setup 48 cubic inch Fageol blower Custom fabricated ??draw-through?? plenum (my own design) Modified Weber 32/36 carburetor Custom Randakk electric fuel pump w/ safety tilt sensor Randakk High Performance Fuel Filter Heavy-duty Barnett clutch Stage II Fishhead Big Brake conversion (front and rear) Upgraded Nissin Front Master Cylinder Braided brake lines SuperBrace Auxiliary remote oil cooler with Think Automotive thermostat Randakk oil filter conversion kit (special version) VDO oil pressure gauge Stewart-Warner boost gauge Honda volt-meter (mounted in normal fuel gauge location) Randakk?s GEN II Amazing Grips Speedometer / tachometer restoration by Pete Boody (actual odometer mileage preserved) Powdercoating: Carolina Custom Powder Coat. Cary. NC Custom Corbin leather seat CRG Hindsight Lane Splitter mirror Lester Mags: 19?? front / 18?? rear (the 18?? rear is quite rare and desirable for more ??gear?? and better rear ride height) Wilber?s rear shocks (longer than stock for better rear ride height and quicker steering) Race-tech front springs Race-Tech front fork cartridge emulators Prototype sterring damper CRG SuperSport clutch lever Dunstall quarter raiding by Air Tech Ducati 750SS front fender Ferrari Rosso Corsa red paint (done in 2011) Hand-crafted aluminum side-covers by Evan Wilcox Flanders Superbike handlebar Double-clamped radiator hoses using stainless aircraft ??step-less?? clamps One-off custom modified electronic distributor-type ignition sourced from Ken Sperry?s turbo drag bike. Many upgrades including 45. 00 Volt coil and Rev-limiter. Details here.I designed and installed the draw-through. Roots style blower system. It has been in use since 2007 and has performed beautifully. I?ve used these Fageol blowers on other bike projects. They are a superior supercharger made to the highest standard. Mark Fageol created a custom-length ??drive?? for this particular application.
Max boost is set at a conservative 8 psi.
I?ve never dyno?d this bike. Boost charts show that it should make about 110-115 horsepower at 8 pounds boost. That matches my ??seat of the pants?? dyno. I already have way more bike than rider - so I?ve never had any interest in boosting the power level beyond the current level. The beauty of a blower bike is that unlike a turbo bike. boost is immediate. linear and right now. It builds rapidly beyond 1/4 throttle. On the road. the experience is very locomotive like. Gear shifting becomes way less important on this GL1000!
Since I?ve owned the bike. I?ve used it for mainly for pleasant rides in good weather. bike shows and track day events. It has also served as one of my principal guinea pigs for lots of R&D here at Randakk's Cycle Shakk.
The supercharger setup is my own design. The fabrication involved many talented people.
This is a well-maintained bike. It is not a restored bike. The paint was expertly re-done in 2011. Beyond that. it does have the patina of use for a bike manufactured in 1975 that is still ridden regularly . with care by a notoriously knowledgeable enthusiast.
No antique bike is perfect. but this one is in excellent mechanical condition. I run premium. non-ethanol fuel with MARINE STABIL year round in this bike. I rotate out the ??winter?? fuel each Spring and burn in my truck. Fresh race fuel is now in the bike.
Maintenance History:
This bike has been excessively maintained! Within the last 4 months. I?ve done the following:
Replaced all fluids: coolant. oil. brake fluid. final drive Replaced timing belts Replaced supercharger drive belt with Gates Racing BLUE belt Replaced water pump using OEM Honda parts Replaced all starter clutch components using OEM Honda parts Replaced main stator / starter clutch bearing with OEM Honda bearing Replaced main oil pump using OEM Honda parts (as a precaution and to satisfy my curiosity about the condition of the original pump ?¦it was perfect). Replaced timing belt idler pulleys using OEM Honda parts Replaced stator with upgraded aftermarket item (as a precaution while I was doing the starter clutch job) New Heavy-Duty AGM battery (as a precaution due to the age of the old battery)Additional Notes:
1. Two different custom exhaust systems are shown in various photos in this listing and via the build / photo links:
Custom 4-into-2 system with Ducati 888 cans (currently on bike) Custom 4-into-4 ceramic coated prototype Widowmaker exhaust built to my specs by Hank Thibideaux. The Ducati pipes flow a bit better. offer slightly more performance and actually are a little quieter. They are less offensive to my suburban neighbors.
The 4-into-4 Widowmaker pipes look and sound great. but they are more heavily restricted via end cap diffusers to reduce the ??raw?? sound. They also have a bung for the 02 sensor that drives the on board K&N air/fuel gauge. The Ducati pipes do not have this bung.
The winning bidder can select either of the 2 exhaust systems (but not both).
2. Two different Wilber?s rear shock sets are shown in various photos in this listing and via the build / photo links:
Black springs with piggyback reservoir competition shocks Blue springs sport touring shocks (currently on bike)Both work great and are calibrated to my weight (170 pounds). The competition shocks are VERY STIFF and suitable only for very smooth race-track conditions. For normal street riding at sane speeds. the blue shocks are much more comfortable.
The winning bidder can select either of the 2 Wiber?s rear shock sets (but not both).
It was a beautiful Fall day here last Thursday and I enjoyed another great spirited ride on this amazing bike! The bike ran perfectly and there are no issues with the bike?s operation that I am aware of.
This bike has been built to a high-standard. Many very smart contributors helped me execute an ambitious design. I consider it sturdy and reliable. but here are some reasons not to buy this bike!
It?s rare and has many ??one-off?? parts. Replacing them would be complicated and expensive if that ever become necessary. Excellent self-sufficient mechanical ability will be a necessity for the new owner. There are very few ??mechanics?? qualified to touch this bike. Blower bikes require extensive routine maintenance. Blower bikes have very specific cold and hot ??starting drills. ?? Blower bikes are a bit finicky and are not happy to idle much. They are not appropriate for ??parade duty?? by pokey riders. I like to tinker. I generally tweak some small thing or another after every ride. The new owner will need that point of view. My riding style favors skinny tires. too much power and overly-powerful brakes. I?ve set up this bike to match my preferences. This might not be the most forgiving setup for other riders. The overall performance level is beyond the ability level of many riders. Throttle is somewhat sensitive. The bike ??complains?? if the throttle is whacked open indiscriminately. Like most exotics. this one has a personality that is a bit ??raw?? compared to a stock bike. Not recommended if unintentional first gear wheelies would cause you any panic. It?s geared slightly ??taller?? than normal to mitigate that tendency. I want a buyer who will appreciate. maintain this bike properly and ride it. Don?t buy it if you plan to park it. neglect the fuel and gum up the carb. That would be criminal! On Oct-12-14 at 21:43:49 PDT. seller added the following information:I rode this bike for 5 laps on the track at Barber Motorsport Park on Saturday. October 11th. This was a "parade" event not a race and passing was discouraged. But. the riders did string out enough to allow some fairly spirited riding so i got to open her up quite a bit. I enjoy this track very much . world class! The bike performed flawlessly. After the run. I topped off the tank with race gas. Here's a photo album of my weekend at Barber.
