1983 Honda CR250R ?ˆ“ race ready!
This CR250 was built for one purpose. to race AHRMA nationals. Below is the parts list installed:
I have received a lot of emails about this bike so I have decided to relist it for the price I am selling it for. Please understand that this price does not reflect what I have in this bike (I have over $5700. 00 in it just in parts). Nor does this price reflect the time and labor of tearing it down and putting it back together. This is not a bike that has been raced for a couple of seasons with a lot of trick parts on it. it was rebuilt from the ground up and has NOT seen any track time!
I cannot take less than the price offered here as I have already absorbed $1500. 00 and have not even had the bike on a track (only motor time on the bike has been for jetting). Unless you own a company and buy parts wholesale (which I don't). there is not way this bike can be built for what I am selling it for. I have a passion for excellence and only the best and that is why I build these bikes. but at this point I am going to be getting out of the business as I cannot build bike that I am losing money on. If you were going to build a modern 450SX. by the time you are done with the suspension and cost of the bike you will be out around 10K. In short. it cost money to build a race ready bike. but if you have ever ridden one. then you know they are worth the money spent on them and this one will cost you a lot less than what it cost me to build it.

Owner remarks
The bike is jetted pretty crisp. but please keep in mind that the motor is not broken in yet. I used the cheaper DC plastic instead of the expense VMX stuff because I built this bike with every intention of racing it and did not want to trash $500. 00 in plastic.
Once of the biggest mistakes I see made in the vintage community is that a lot of riders will add heaver fork springs and adjust the rear shock without realizing that these bikes were set up for riders weighing about 160lbs back in the day. Then when you consider these bikes were not set up for modern mx tracks. you end up with a bike that is under sprung and valved completely wrong. If you have never ridden a vintage bike with the suspension set up correctly. then you need to because once you have you?ˆ™ll never go back to your old ways. Having your suspension set up like this is just that GOOD.
This is the most sought after Ultima 250 and the price is well below what is in the bike. The reserve is just a little over what a clean stock 83 sells for with new plastic and other cosmetic changes. Please shop and look at other 83?ˆ™s. such as those sold by vintage resellers such as east coast vintage mx (which they sell clean bikes). but you will be hard pressed to find another at this price this race ready. The reserve while fair is what it is as taking anything less. I would be giving the bike away and that?ˆ™s not going to happen (but nor is the reserve overpriced). Bike comes with a bill of sale.
Please call me if you have any question at (703) 961-1453. thanks for looking Mike
On Sep-07-14 at 15:31:26 PDT. seller added the following information:Quick update. someone interested in the bike had thought it had been previously listed on Ebay and it has not (this is the first time). Also. this bike was a ground up restoration. The only time on the bike was for jetting purposes so the bike will have to be broken in. I have also attached some additional photos of the build and one of the photos is of the bike right after I purchased it. As you can see the bike was pretty clean to start with (not all roached out). Good luck.
Bike will be available this Saturday. October 18. 2014 at Lake Sugar Tree MX Park
Also see my listing for my 1977 Suzuki RM125B (lots of super trick parts!)
