Honda CR250 1996

Your Looking at a very capable lightweight and feisty enduro moded ( last of the steel frame ) Honda CR 250 R

I have owned this bike for many years and have hardly ridden it. Know something of its history. it is a bit special.

It was used competitivily in its very early years. and as such has enduro paint markings to block and other parts. as i found later it has been fitted with what appears to be a factory fly wheel weight. and so the story goes. was factory tuned and motor built for competition. . no proof of this. but it rings true.

Bought from a mate. in a bit of a sad condition 8-10 years ago. he bought it from the guy who raced it in the mid-late nineties.

Set about sorting it over the following years;

works carried out :

suspension :

All bushes replaced

suspension serviced and set up for enduro use

Bike stripped to frame and engine. Not a nut and bolt rebuild. but a thorough sorting and improvment.

New plastics and graphics. where needed. grips . levers. /p>

filter. ep rear pipe. reed block spacer. new chain and sprocket. longer gearing.

Maxxis front tyre. and new un fitted rear.

Spares as in photo ( genuine honda reed block and reeds. Baja Aluminium bash plate and gear shifter). probably a few other spares as well. will have to hunt around.

Starts well. runs great. amazing power. but still useable. due to engine and gearing mods.

only used for some light practice events. was really pleased with it. but my situation changed and i moved away from H+H and enduro and back to road bikes. ( track days actually ).

needs viewing. could be immaculate with a little work. or could be used straight away.

Bad bits :

front pipe bit dinged . ut certainly doesnt affect power !!

Upper or lower ( cant remember now ) rear shock bearing was seized in. and at the time was not popped and replaced. but i have the new one and it just needs pressing out. Again this is minor play and doesnt affect the superb handling and ride of the bike off road.

thats about it. For a nearly 20 year old bike. it feel great. is useable and will only appreciate with time as the SUPER EVO series has now included these bikes.

probably missed something out. so will update with anything else fitted. i havent listed.
