1982 Ft500 Honda Ascot--Low Miles All Original--2 Hondaline Accessories

This is my 1982 Ft 500 Honda Ascot. 4368 original miles.   I bought my first one  in 1983 when a friend who was a Honda  mechanic said "you have to get one of these" He and his  buddies would buy these. re-jet them. tweak the pipes and beat snot out of them on the weekend Midwest flat track circuit and then drive them to work on Monday.   I bought one and rode it for years. sold it. and then regretted selling it for a long time.   

I bought this one from a vintage motorcycle collector 3 years ago  who said he was the second owner. In the last 3 years I have put about 60 miles on it. and about 2 years ago put in a new battery which I have kept on a battery tender. Otherwise I have regularly started it and ridden a few miles. I have done no other work on it. This morning I pushed it out of the garage. washed it off. started it up and rode it to the post office. For a cold start for this model I would say it did very good--took a couple attempts.   I let it cool a couple hours and it started the first try. I had one of these when they first came out and really enjoyed riding it so when I decided to buy another 30 years later. I bought the best one I could find at this price.   This is all original but not a mint museum piece-- a very nice daily rider. It is all original--the only piece I see missing is the boot at the break lever. It starts and operates as it should. All electric works--break/tail light. headlight/high/low. horn--all work. Starts. stops. shifts thru all gears as it should. Accelerates thru all gears without hesitation. The tank has no dents and is clean and shiny on the inside. Seat has no tears or damage. All plastic is nice with the exception of some scratches on the front fender and one on the tail (see pics). Black and shiny chrome have minor pitting.   Tires are original but hold air and work for now. The best part of this bike is that it came with two original Hondaline accessories--the case protector bars and the Hondaline luggage rack. As original Hondaline parts these 2 pieces go for hundreds apiece.  I have been an Ascot fan for 30 years and have never seen an Ascot with both of these accessories.  The bike is available for local inspection but no "test rides".
