Honda CB125S, gorgeous classic now tax exempt

This is one of three classic Honda 125 singles that I own. One has to go. and it?ˆ™s this one.

?ˆ?It?ˆ™s a 1973 CB125S. in the rare two-tone blue/white colour combination. They only made the models with the colour-matched frames (red. blue or yellow) for a year. and then switched to black frames. presumably because they were cheaper to paint.

This one has done some 13. 00 miles and has been partially restored. All the paint has been professionally re-done. in the correct candy blue. at a cost of £750. The engine has been ?ˆ?refreshed?ˆ™ with a new piston. rings and cam chain. and it just runs like a watch. No rattles. no rumbles. no smoke. and a sweet even tickover. It?ˆ™s lovely.

Some of the chrome is original. like the mudguards. some is new. like the indicators. and some is a bit old and really needs replacement. like the wheel rims. and the bars are a bit 'pickled' but still polish up well. The chrome on the front mudguard is ?ˆ?old?ˆ™ - it?ˆ™s not corroded. but it?ˆ™s just gone dull with age. You could rechrome it. or fit a replica item (lots available) for about £35. Or just leave it as is.

?ˆ?The seat is perfect (which is good because it?ˆ™s hard to find a good one now) and it even wears the original ?ˆ?trumpet?ˆ™ exhaust. in excellent condition. but with a small dent in it. visible in the pictures. A pattern system costs under £100 and bolts straight on. but they don?ˆ™t look the same. and I think you need to keep the old original exhaust if possible. don?ˆ™t you?

It?ˆ™s ?ˆ?taxed?ˆ™until March 2015. in that it?ˆ™s a historic vehicle. and so it?ˆ™s free. It?ˆ™s MoT?ˆ™d until April next year. Everything works exactly as it should. and it?ˆ™s a lovely little thing to ride. These little 125Ss are becoming very collectable. and this is one of the nicest ones you?ˆ™ll find. If I were keeping it. I?ˆ™d buy new rims and spokes and rebuild the wheels myself. and maybe rchome the front mudguardbut that?ˆ™s it.
