1981 HONDA CX500C Custom in very original condition

Very original CX500 custom. The bike was imported from USA in 1998 and the 35000 miles appears to be correct. The engine is very nice. no nasty rattles or anything else untoward.  Bad points:The tank has a mark on the right hand side. looks like it was from brake fluid leaking from the master cylinder as it has had a replacement non standard one fitted.  The front wheel is from an A model. the back is from a B. The front is the single disc US version. the right hand fork has no calliper mounts so either the forks and front wheel were replaced at some point or the back wheel has been swapped. I think the latter but who knows?The exhaust downpipes have cosmetic corrosion - I'd replace them with pattern ones if I was keeping it but they work fine. Headlamp cowl is showing its age with a little bit of rustNot new - this bike is 33 years old - but considering the age it is a very usable classic. Good pointsVery original - Seat and mudguards are original Honda and the paint and panels are all good. Very little corrosion considering the age. maybe because the first half of its life was in the USA. Engine runs very nicely. not an oil burner or rattler.  Chrome engine bars fittedTyres and brake pads are all okGetting rare in this conditionOnly selling as an unexpected house move is forcing a clear out of my workshop. the new house doesn't have one so I can only keep some of my bikes. and this one didn't make the cut . sob! Having said that I am not prepared to give this one away. very reasonable reserve set. Will check the MoT date. it would pass no problem just not sure whether it has expired. the bike is currently on SORN as it is not being used. Check out my other items!
