Honda CBR600F-V 1997 low mileage. one owner. 'Category D'. long MOT. fully rideable
On offer is a genuine low mileage (Odometer currently displaying 8265 miles - but that may change as bike is road legal and could be ridden further prior to sale) one owner from new CBR600F-V. (I have other bikes. which is one of the reasons this bike has very low mileage).
This is a 1997 model. which is one of the later 'steel frame' CBR600. with the 105 bhp specification motor.
The bike was 'Datatagged' at my request when I purchased the bike - various panels therefore have 'Datatag' marks or identity chips.
The bike last had an oil & flter change at 8002 miles and fully synthetic oil was used.
The bike had new Bridgestone Battlax T30 radials fitted at 8014 miles. these have been carefully bedded in and are ready to run.
The bike has had a recent new battery.
The bike was MOT tested in September 2014 with 8151 miles on the odometer.
There is of course a V5 (log-book) for this road registered bike. (Unlike some other low priced offerings !)
The bike has a current MOT that expires in September 2015. The bike is currently taxed and can be legally driven on the road by a person with the correct license and insurance.
NOTE ! - Since October 2014 the road tax cannot be transferred to the new owner of any road registered vehicle. This includes existing tax discs. If you buy the bike you will be responsible for applying for road tax on the bike - this can be done on-line or at a Post Office that deals with road tax.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY & TAKE NOTE OF THE DESCRIPTION PROVIDED
Unfortunately this bike has suffered from a rear end shunt at low speed as I was setting off from a traffic light controlled junction. This caused the bike to be knocked over and this resulted in cosmetic damage (Scuffs. cracking and splitting) to various body panels. There are two tiny impact marks at the end of the exhaust tail-pipe and a scuff on the front edge of the silencer can (Standard silencer). Some panels could be made serviceable. with minor repairs. but some would be better replaced.
Other damage included a slightly bent rear brake lever (which I have straightened). a damaged front offside indicator stem (which I have bonded with araldite to make the bike rideable) and a sheared off pin on the offside mirror (Which I drilled out & replaced the sheared pin with a stainless Allen bolt of the same size - again to make the bike rideable)
I have tried to highlight the panel damage in the photos. There are side panels for the bike. but these were removed at the time I went for the MOT. One panel has scuffing damage & has been repaired - the other is fine.
I priced all the damaged parts at a few Honda dealers and the total cost for brand new parts (including colour matched panels) varied between £1300 - £1600. As a result of this the insurer of the party responsible for the accident has decided my bike is 'uneconomical to repair' and will treat it as a 'total loss' item. This means that this bike has been entered on the insurance register of damaged vehicles as a 'Category D' total loss vehicle.
The bike could of course be repaired using second hand parts at a more modest cost - but it may take time to source the correct coloured parts.
I have been put in the position where I have to either allow an agent recover the salvage value of the bike. or dispose of the bike myself. Given that the salvage value is comparatively low. I thought I would offer the for sale as a complete rideable bike.
It is clear to me that I could break the bike for spares and achieve the salvage value. but to be frank it is too good to break for spares. It would make a good winter bike. or a decent sporty 'first bike' for someone who has recently passed their test & wanted a cheap bike they wouldn't need to 'worry about' if they had a minor spill. It would also make a passable track bike if you wanted a 'hack' for that kind of use.
This is a genuine sale. I have tried to describe the bike fairly & made clear this is now a 'Category D' Bike.
Feel free to ask questions if you are unclear about this listing or the description provided. If you bid. then you are bidding to buy at the price you offer. (i. e. there will be NO negotiation on price after the close of the auction). Only bid what you are prepared to pay for the bike. & do not make any assumptions - ask if in doubt about anything)
The bike is offered for sale elsewhere and the listing may be cancelled if a sale is generated elsewhere.
The bidding starts at £675.
The bike is offered on a 'cash on collection' basis.
