Description

  This auction is for my 1982 Honda C90 in blue. This bike has had one owner from new. before I purchased it. and has covered 15. 00 miles. It is a local Cornish bike which was bought from David Paull Motorcycles in Blackwater. near Truro. located about 5 miles from my house. The elderly gent I bought it from used it to bimble down to his allotment and back. He was only covering a couple of hundred miles a year. and his biking days were coming to an end. so he sold it to me. It's not been sat unused in a garage for years. this bike was in use virtually up until I bought it. The mot ran out two months before I purchased it.   The condition of the bike is pretty good. The frame seems solid. the main rust points on these bikes are the very rear of the wheel arch. under the number plate. which on this bike is intact. there are a couple of rust bubbles as can be seen in the pictures. but it's solid. and the seam where the rear arch is joined to the main part of the frame. As you'll see in the photos. there is a bit of filler around this area. I questioned the previous owner about it and he said rust was starting to bubble up so he rubbed it off and smudged some filler over it. It seems solid to me. and the fact you can still see the seam where the arch joins the frame is important. as when the rot is bad. this is welded. and filled over. so the seam is no longer visible. The frame has been recoated with blue paint. not a great job as it flaking off. the paint underneath looks better ! The front forks are in very good condition. with virtually unblemished paintwork. please note the small chrome trims on the bottom of the front forks have been removed. a friend of mine took them for his bike.  The front wheel has quite good chrome. bit rusty. but not bad. The front tyre has loads of tread. Fuel tank is in good unrusted condition. rear wheel chrome isn't as good as the front. but again it's not too bad. Rear tyre tread is good. Brakes are sharp and work as they should. The electrics are perfect. everything works as it should. All four indicators work. horn works. headlight works on main and dip. rear light/brake light works. front pilot light works. Swing arm has had the same paint job as the frame. shows signs of surface rust. but not rot. The rear shocks have been upgraded. so are not the originals. apparently they're better ! The exhaust is not in great condition. it has had holes welded in a couple of places. nbsp;ideally it could do with replacing. One surprise I did find was the seat. It was covered with a very manky ripped seat cover. which was held together with insulation tape. I removed it to be greeted by a nearly mint looking seat. Take a look at the picture. it has a very small bit of damage on the right side just above the tank. but apart from that. it looks like it's brand new. The seat base is also in a good condition and has no rot.   The engine has good compression. and kick starts very easily. usually on the first. but if not second. kick. It ticks over nicely and runs well. I have ridden it up the road and back. It felt a bit boggy to me. I'm guessing the carb would benefit from a good clean. but I have neither the time nor the inclination to do it. I have given it an oil change. I think with a new exhaust. this bike would fly through an mot. I would usually mot any vehicle before I sell it. as I think it inspires confidence therefore gaining a better price. however. as most buyers of these bikes seem to be stripping them down for restoration. an mot would be of no use to the buyer. and an additional expense to myself. so I decided not to bother. I have the original handbook for it. as well as the last mot. which has now expired. It comes with two keys. one for the steering lock and one for the ignition. The V5 is present and in my name.    I would encourage bidders to come and view the bike before placing a bid. This is of course your prerogative. but please be advised. you bid to buy. not to come and view or attempt to haggle after the end of the auction. Be aware. this bike is located in Cornwall. which is a long drive from most places. Bike is collection only. although if you wish to have it collected by courier. I shall do what I can to assist. Payment is cash. in full. on collection. unless by courier. in which case payment is via PayPal before collection. PayPal charges shall be paid additionally by the buyer.   Anyone intending to bid with a feedback score of less than 10 need to message me before placing a bid. otherwise their bid will be removed. Please do not ask if I have a 'buy it now' price. I don't. you will not receive a reply. The auction will run to the end and will not be ended early. highest bidder takes it. Good luck !Any questions. or to arrange a viewing. please message me.

UPDATE;

This morning I had a bit of spare time. so I removed the carb and stripped it down. The filter was clear. the main jet did look to have a bit of congealed gunk in it. I removed the jets and blew them through with an air line. I also found a brand new spark plug in one of the side panels. so I fitted that too. although on inspection of the old plug it looked fine. a nice tan colour at the end which is what it should be if it is running correctly. I have not taken it for a ride to see if performance has increased. at it was raining heavily.

After reading through my description I have realised I have maybe made this bike sound worse than it is. I always try to give a detailed description of condition. to avoid any disappointment on collection. but this bike overall is in good nick for its age. a lot better than some of the cubs I have seen on Ebay. I think it would go straight through an mot as is. even though I would change the exhaust. it doesn't blow. it just doesn't look great. I have had a look on Ebay and should you wish to swap the exhaust they are selling for £35 delivered.  This little C90 would be great for a winter restoration project or just to ride as a commuter as it is. There is an almost identical bike to this on Ebay at the moment with a 'Buy It Now' price of £850. bearing that in mind. my reserve is set very low.

This decription is slowly turning into a novel !

Forgot to mention. when I bought the bike. the previous owner said he had recently had the front suspension overhauled with new parts fitted. although I don't think I have a receipt for this work. the new parts are clearly visible.
