Hi to all. and welcome to the auction for my dearly beloved?s Honda CB400f.
I bought this for her in July last year. However. she?s now decided that she wants another dog. so my loss could be your gain.
At some point in the past. this bike has had some serious work done on it. It looks good. there?s lots of chrome sparkle. and the paint has been done well. The frame looks as if it has been powdercoated. I?m not really into old Hondas. so I can?t claim to know whether genuine parts have been used. However. looking at other bikes on ebay. it looks as though they have.
Registered on 9th August 1976. it appears to be an original f series. rather than an f1 or f2. Early fs had the rear footrests attached to the swinging arm. This bike appears to be one of the later in that series. as it is fitted with the footrests on the frame. According to the DVLA (https://www. gov. uk/vehicle-exempt-from-car-tax) in a couple of years it will become categorised as an historic vehicle. with no road tax to pay.
The Tax expires at the end of March 2015 and the MOT on 15th October 2015. It has almost a full year on the current MOT. and there were no advisories.
There is some history with the bike. There are a number of old MOTs running back to a test on 11th September 2009. and they record the following:
Test date 11th September 2009 28480 miles
Test date 3rd August 2010 28501 miles
Test date 20th July 2011 28521 miles
Test date 26th July 2012 28555 miles
Test date 23rd July 2013 78569 miles (rogue reading by the test station)
Test date 16th October 2014 28650 miles
It will come with a Haynes manual. and two sets of keys. The V5 is in my dearly beloved?s name. it is HPI clear. and the tyres are good
It's currently showing 28661 miles. although I can?t verify this as genuine. all in the dry since we've had it. I would think this is right given the evidence of the old MOTs. It has been fettled for sale by Keeler Classics. of Yarnton near Oxford (thanks Mark) which included a refurb of the front brake and clutch.
The frame number matches the one on the V5. being CB400f-1064633. The V5 records the engine number as CB400f- e-1060461. However. the engine number on the bike is CB400f- e-1047874. There won?t be time to change this. so this is flagged up so that anyone interested is aware.
A genuine exhaust system is now unobtainium. and this bike has the usual Motad replacement exhaust on it. David Silver were doing a copy of the original system a couple of months ago. but it now appears to be out of stock. The seat appears to have been recovered with a genuine looking item. but whoever has done this has forgotten to add the little seat studs. which are currently listed by David Silver at £1 each. Or you can buy a replica seat with metal base from them for less than £70.
If you?re familiar with the CB400f. you?ll know that it is one of the most practical classic bikes. in that pretty much any parts can be sourced from David Silver Spares in Leiston. Suffolk. See the following link

This is genuine. good looking example of a popular classic bike. I'll be sorry to see it go. but happy bidding. You will not be disappointed.
