Description

1976 Honda GL1000 Goldwing (K1)

Genuine UK bike. with original bill of sale! (See last pic)

57. 00 Miles

MOT 25/05/2015

Agreed insurance valuation of £4000

In the best 70?ˆ™s colour Honda Candy Blue-Green. Despite this. the bike sat around on Honda dealer JA Lock of London?ˆ™s showroom floor until being registered August 1977. so is on its original S-Plate. I remember they were a little slow to sell at first because the press slated it for being too big and powerful! In reality they are beautifully balanced and considerably smaller than my new BMW. Just a normal size bike really?ˆ¦

Currently taxed and MOT?ˆ™d and still in weekly use. I genuinely enjoy riding this bike. so I am commuting to work on it whilst the weather continues to be unseasonably warm.

This summer I have fitted many parts including new clutch. brakes rebuilt (including master cylinder). belts. valve-seals. gaskets. seals. hoses and all oils and fluids. It is also has a Dyna electronic ignition conversion that is much more reliable than points. I have refitted the condenser should anyone want to convert back. The rear shocks were replaced with period Koni shocks that give a much better ride.

Stripped and cleaned. nearly all nuts. bolts and brackets replaced with bright zinc-plate or stainless steel where appropriate. Exhausts and downpipes are all in great condition and free from leaks with new gaskets and clamps. The frame is also in excellent rust-free condition.

When I bought the bike it had ?ˆ?ape-hanger?ˆ? bars. a?ˆ? king and queen?ˆ? seat and painted mudguards. I replaced the seat with an original seat. fitted original UK-style bars and replaced the front and rear mudguards as this was cheaper than having the old ones re-chromed. I also fitted a newly-chromed grab handle.

I still have the other bars. seat and mudguards if required. but are not part of this sale.

There are a few scratches and scrapes on the paintwork and a crack in the RHS rear plastic cover (pictured). So it would require paint to make perfect. I have been quoted £450 for the whole job including pin-stripes and decals.

I have therefore set a realistic price to account for this. but these issues are purely cosmetic. If it doesn?ˆ™t sell I may paint it just to make it perfect. This is not a concours bike but also not the usual scrap you get on eBay.

I would welcome and advise that you come and view the bike in Coventry if you are serious about buying a genuine UK GL1000.
