Up for auction from my collection is my 1966 (1965 model but sold and titled in 1966) Honda CL77. This CL77 has been in my collection for years and has been parked and covered in my basement alongside the 1966 CB450 K0 I also have up for auction this week. I acquired this CL77 locally and from the original family many years ago. I had originally planned on saving this CL77 and doing a complete restoration but now realize I don't have the time to give this classic the attention it deserves so I have decided to let someone else be the expert. The frame number appearing on this CL77 is CL77-1009263 and the engine number appearing on this CL77 is CL77E-1009245 making it a numbers matching correct original example. The closeness of the frame and engine number is also one of the reasons I targeted this particular example. The odometer currently reads 12. 24 original miles. I feel very strongly that the new owner will have an overall nice CL77 to enjoy or an excellent starting point for a complete or partial restoration. This CL77 features the small front brake which is one of the most desirable and valuable feature of the CL77's making it the perfect example for you to purchase. Please do not confuse this CL77 with others that are sporadically offered by amateur and unreliable sellers that recently found an old motorcycle in a dirt floor shed and are now an expert. This CL77 is overall very clean. correct but not perfect and as stated above could be enjoyed as is or would be the perfect starting point for a partial or complete restoration. I also have a clear title and key for this CL77. Also included for free is Vintage Motor Toys Priority NOS Parts Help Service for any restoration items you may need valued at over $1000*.
Cosmetically this CL77 features its original body work with the exception of the front fender. The front fender is the rare and valuable aluminum front fender which further accents this CL's value and desirability. The rear fenders. side covers and fuel tank are presentable but do have an amateur paint job that could be used as is or repainted. The body work on this CL is definitely usable and restorable. The fuel tank also features the correct stainless cap and a correct set of NOS tank emblems as well. As we make our way to the seat. we find an original seat with original seat cover. It does have a couple tears but is original. The seat pan is also rock solid. The chrome on this CL77 is original and shows very nicely. The handlebars are correct originals and are straight. The rear grab bar matches the condition of the handlebars and the correct shouldered rims show nice for originals as well. The exhaust are in very nice condition as are the exhaust guards-the exhaust show very nicely for originals. The exhaust also have a period correct set of snuff or knots installed as well adding to the nostalgia of this timeless classic.
Mechanically. this CL77 was running and driving 100% last summer. It ran and drove similar to a new bike. I did start it this spring but the CL could probably use a new battery and the carburetors cleaned as well as any general maintenance as recommended by Honda. As long as I have owned this CL77. it has been in my basement covered. The engine and engine area are also very clean.
Overall. this is a clean and overall nice example of a CL77 Scrambler that was purchased from the original family and then stored by me. As mentioned above. it comes with a clear title as well as original key.
