1972 Honda Caf?© CB350
This is a nice little twin caf?© bike. nothing fancy. just a simple stripped down old Honda.
What is new: Avon rubber front and rear (still has nipples on both). nbsp;chrome headlight. small turn signals front and rear. nbsp;cateye tail light. nbsp; 'phat' style fiberglass seat and pad. OSS rear sets. nbsp;clip-ons. pod filters. rear shocks. petcock. carb gaskets. one carb bowl. plugs. straight exhaust. gel battery. tapered neck-bearing conversion. swingarm bushings. and frame loop.
This bike sat for sometime. but amazingly started right up with a carb clean and new plugs. I did have to replace a cracked carb bowl after I got it running. This is a quick spray paint caf?©. its not perfect. but its a good everyday driver. Looks good going down the road. Could be cleaned up more with some elbow grease and polishing.
I've fought with the jetting a bit. upsizing the primary and secondary mains. 70 to 82. and 105 to 120. With the pipes and pods she needed a bit more fuel. If you know anything about the Kehein CV carbs. they aren't really tunable. If I were keeping this machine I would invest in a pair of 30mm Mikuni's and dail it in from there. I have shimmed the needles up . 030" trying to get some low-end blubber to clear up. but it's not 100%. I've also heard that 'spacing' the carb pods away from the carbs would help them perform better. removing the airbox on these bikes cleans them up. but causes some minor stumbling blocks to overcome.
The tank was dented pretty heavily. which I repaired and straightened. I am not a body man. but I sealed the tank with Kreem after cleaning it. and shot some satin olive green on it. Its thin paint. I would love to find a good usable factory tank with badges. but $800. 00+ seems outrageous. This one goes down the road just fine with an $8. 00 paint job.
I also relocated the battery to under the seat cowl. moving all of the electrics along with it. I welded up a new tray and tail loop. as well as added a heavy cross tube between the rear shock mounts. I've heard this is a popular AHRMA race upgrade. it works well. (Though leaves little tire clearance. but no issues so far with tire contact. ) With the new bearings. bushings. and additional bracing. this thing handles nice! I also removed the electric starter and wiring. I stripped any extras right down to the bone. removing about 40 pounds of dead weight. No speedo. No tach.
State inspection just passed. controls and lights function well. **Pipes are on the loud side. I custom made the megaphone ends and welded them onto the straight pipes. neighbors and cops will hate you. The title is CLEAN and OPEN. in my hand. No paperwork hassles to deal with.
You can have the box of take off parts too. Most isn't usable stuff in my opinion. but maybe its worth something to you. Or maybe you want to put some of it back stock.
As for the bidding. zero rating. don't bid. If you have a rating under 20. contact me before bidding.
I don't want to be hassled. scammed. or have my time wasted by non-paying bidders. If you cant afford the bike---don't bid.
No trades. No Warranty. This is a 40+ year old motorcycle. nbsp;if you cant work on them. buy a new one.
I'm just west of St Louis. local pick up or I will work with your shipping company. (No crating by me. )
Good luck. feel free to ask any questions. I typically respond quickly when my work schedule allows.
It is for sale locally as well. and I am always open to ending an auction early for respectable offers.
**The last time it was started . had a small leak in a carb bowl gasket. I didn't use OEM replacements. I should have. It would need some attention to stop the leak. Spend the extra bucks for Honda gaskets.
