1979 Honda CB750 Caf?© Racer
Some of you may recognize this Caf?© Racer ?ˆ¦ it was one of our earlier builds. Our customer purchased the bike from us back in November 2011 and has loved it ever since ?ˆ“ he is quite a meticulous character and has kept her cleaned/polished/waxed/tucked away nicely in the garage and has taken her out mostly on nice Saturday mornings! He has put roughly 2000 miles on her since we completed the build a few years back! It is time to move her on and he has asked us to help find her next owner. Other than a new front tire. the bike has not changed since the build ?ˆ“ she does leave a small oil spot about the size of a quarter right after a ride but then stops leaking after cooling down.
Here is the information we included in the original write-up
Thank you. for checking out our Honda CB750 Caf?© Racer. We saw her at an insurance auction and since the only damage was a shot to her tank and handle-bars (see photo on our website). we decided to pick her up as her motor. frame. forks. wheels and drive train were fine. As you can see. the damaged tank and handlebars have been replaced. She now has a rebuilt title and was carefully inspected/approved by the Florida DMV ?ˆ“ they too loved what we did with her J. Yeah. it is not a Honda CB750 SOHC but. she is still a CB750 ?ˆ¦ and as most of you likely already know. the DOHC motor has much better performing engine than the SOHC motor. We saw what this bike could be and went about uncovering her true heart and soul. She turned out to be a real head turner and just a total blast to ride ?ˆ“ folks love the old school look/sound and they really seem to be drawn to the color combination and simple design (the new owner will see ?ˆ“ many people/strangers will want to stop you and ask about this bike). In fact. she has already taken a trophy for ?ˆ?Best Bike In Show?ˆ? (check out our website for more info. and pics). We have received several offers to buy the bike out right; however. we thought it best to put her on ebay to show folks what we are up to at www. barebonerides. com.
She has been rejetted to accommodate the K&N Pod Filters and the Vance & Hines 4 into 1 header (at sea level). All electronics including the battery have been carefully/neatly relocated under the seat pan or to the underside of the seat pan and everything works! See the below list for some of the work and the goodies:
- custom fitted with a Honda Rebel front fender (smaller & tighter than the huge chrome stock fender ?ˆ“ the new fender hugs the front tire perfectly)
- new paint with several coats of urethane clear coat (the black portions of the bike have a very subtle metal flake which is not revealed in the photos ?ˆ“ the sun and light bring it out)
- 2???ˆ? mini tachometer and speedometer
- new clubman bars with new machined aluminum/rubber grips
- rebuild master cylinder with all new parts including plunger/reservoir
- new performance nitrogen filled rear shocks
- new front fork seals and oil
- new heavy duty 630 o-ring chain
- engine side covers hand polished
- custom rear sub-fender to protect motor/electronics/intake from road debris and water
- new oil & filter
- carbs taken apart and thoroughly cleaned (ultrasonic bath) with proper jetting. new float bowl gaskets and new accelerator pump diaphragm
- front and rear tires have less than 1000 miles (estimated back in Nov. 2011 ?ˆ¦ note: front tire very recently replaced by current owner)
- front brake pads are new. rear brake shoes still have roughly 85%
Like most 35+ year old carbureted bikes. she is a bit cold blooded ?ˆ“ she just needs to be warmed-up before you take off and especially before you want to ride her hard! Once warmed-up. she pulls hard and shifts through entire RPM range without issue; however. we have not taken her beyond 8000 RPM (nor has the current owner ?ˆ“ he just likes to cruise on the bike).

Please understand she was not built to be a show bike. she was created to be an old school. one-off. custom caf?© racer styled ride ?ˆ“ the perfect bike to blast around town on or head to the local bike night or coffee shop. She will bring lots of attention!
Check out our shop and our perspective on custom rides/builds at www. barebonerides. com . you can see more photos of this bike on the website.
Please keep in mind this bike is 35 years old and is best suited. in our opinion. for someone that knows bikes and knows how to wrench on them . unless you have a good mechanic that knows these old school bikes. We have gone over the bike thoroughly and she is ready to go ?ˆ¦ normal maintenance will be required (as is the case for ALL machines. new and old).
Please contact us prior to bidding if you have less than 10 positive feedback scores or a questionable feedback score/rating.
We really appreciate your time in checking out this bike ?ˆ“ and if this is not the bike for you. as always we wish you much luck on your search for that perfect ride . or keep an eye out for our next build!
