1985 GL 1200, Honda Goldwing GL1200, GL1200, GL 1200 Goldwing 1200

You are viewing my labor of love in the form of a 1985 Honda Goldwing GL1200.  This bike has been completely re-done minus internal engine work. If it's not broke don't fix it as they say. and with only 38. 00 plus miles. why bother. I've owned this bike for the past 5 trouble-free years.  As you can tell by the pictures. it is in beautiful condition and runs as good as it looks. Of course. it didn't always look this good.  I spent 2 years making it look the way you see it today. It has numerous new parts including: all new Honda engine seals and key engine gaskets-the engine will NOT leak or drip for years to come.  It has all new Honda rear end seals and Honda Gear oil.  Final drive was disasembled. cleaned and re-greased with Genuine Honda Moly 60 paste on all the splines.  New Michelin Pilot Tires as well as new wheel bearings front and back. It has new exhaust gaskets. a new Rick's alternator. new Rick's regulator/rectifier. a new battery. and it will charge like a dream.  FYI-most alternator failures on the GL1200 can be attributed to the connection point under the left side cover). Brake system was completely overhauled with new ceramic brake pads. piston seals. pins. rubber boots. and new brake fluid-stops on a dime.  New Honda thermostat and Honda coolant. Carbs completely dismantled. cleaned and synced.  New windshield. mirrors. Saddleman seat. and all new two-tone black/gunmetal paint and painted red/silver pinstripes all done by Whittico's Collision in Lincoln Park. MI.  It also has new Honda front brake and clutch levers. new Honda engine oil and filter. The front suspension has new Honda fork seals and fluid and the head bearings have been regreased. Bike has a new timing belt and new Honda pulse generators.  The Radio works just fine as well. I'm sure I'm missing some things. but I have a detailed excel file listing just about everything I did or bought.  I have almost literally polished every part on the bike no matter how small the screw or bolt.  Fuel economy on most of my trips is right at 45mpg fully loaded up with some spirited riding.  Bike is of course used. but is way above average and will not let you down.  It's been to the Dragon's tail. Cherohala Skyway and many other places in between there and Detroit. Bike is solid!  This next line is for those few of you who are expecting a showroom quality GL1200: If you're expecting a perfect condition GL1200. keep looking. as I've never found one myself. but this one is certainly worthy of recognition.  When I ride with my friends on their newer Honda VTX's. Harley Street Glides etc. . MY GL1200 is always the one that gets the looks. and is the topic of discussion. Makes me feel good of course because I did ALL the work myself.  FYI. I pursued and received my motorcycle mechanics license years ago and did it just because I love bikes. I've worked on countless motorcycles over the years and just love it.  I've been riding since I was 12 years old. and working on them since then as well.  Now it's time for the kids to go to college. and it's killing me to sell my Wing. but I can always start over I guess.  If you have any questions at all. please feel free to call me at 313-657-6745 or you may reply through Ebay with your questions.  I can deliver along the I-75 corridor from Detroit to Greenville.
