Description

My decision to sell the bike is purely for practical reasons. I will not ride it again for at least 6 months and I need the garage space. This bike is very reliable. it was made to cross continents and if you need to commute on a dull motorway. it will get you there in comfort. This is a big bike. so if you are new to biking I do not recommend it. but you will get used to its sturdiness and all day comfort soon.  It was my daily commute to work. without it I would have spent twice as much on train tickets to London then I spent buying. riding and servicing it! Yes. public transport in this part of England is the best incentive for private transport and I don't regret a single second that I commuted 80 miles every day on the M4 on the big Varadero.  In a nutshell:XL1000 VA/4 (ABS)Less then 39000km / 24234 miles2004 modelImport from GermanyMine since March 2013 when it had 17300km on the clock. I am the second owner. Jobs done:Service and new set of tyres at 17319km (total spent 390 Pounds)New DID chain & Sprockets at 22000kmService at 25000km (total spent 200 Pounds). Includes NGK Spark Plugs. Air Filter. Oil+Oil Filter. Also installed R&G heated gripsOil + filter change at 27351 km (Motul 10w40). This was after the winter. 6 months after the last one and I wouldn't have time to change it later so I preferred to do it then. New rear brake pads at 31500kmNew fork seals at 31500km (180 Pounds spent)New exhaust seal. this time the VCI Forum way with VW clamp and custom made copper seal so it lasts. 34900km. 160 Pounds. New front tyre at 34900km. Anakee 3. nothing else!New oil and filter (Motul 10w40) at 35500km. New Anakee 3 rear tyre at 38687km (yes. its brand new with less then 60 miles on it). Installed extras:R&G heated gripsHepco & Becker crash bars Givi top boxIt wasn't used much by its first owner and it was his first bike. given the sheer (top heavy) mass of it. you will understand that he dropped it. So did I. btw. once when arguing with an SUV head on about occupying the same space at the same time (no contact made between vehicles). Hence it got a lot of cosmetic damage but the crash bars paid off. Mechanically it is in good condition and has less then 25k miles on the clock. If I still had that job in London. I would continue using it without a problem but I got another job now where they do actually pay me the train ticket :-) I plasti-dipped it in blue. so it looks as rugged as it is. You can take the layer off at any time and it should have protected the underlaying paint. You can see a picture of the bike in its factory black colour and the way it looks now. Price? Well. if I would put fire on it today. I would still be in a profit due to all the train ticket money I saved. I expect to get around 2000 pounds merely due to its cosmetic condition. as bikes with similar mileage and age cost considerably more.
