1990 HONDA VFR400R NC30 - Winter Project

Hi and welcome to the very reluctant auction of my Honda VFR400R (NC30).

This is my 3rd NC30 and I have owned this bike for just over 4 years. When I bought it. I spent a lot of time looking around for a model in good mechanical condition that had not been thrashed to within an inch of its life. This one was a little "cosmetically challenged" but I had a plan.

The plan was to spend many hours searching ebay to find original panels to replace the worn/cracked ones. I decided to buy some cheap aftermarket fairings from Japan for in the interim. so it still looked pretty good and useable until I could find good condition originals - Having seen the quality of these replacement panels. I decided to fit only the ones that were really necessary (for those who are thinking about buying these cheap fairings. think very carefully). The plan was then to take the wheels off and get them powder coated white. as part of the restoration. to get this bike back to its original state.

Needless to say. 4 years. 3 house moves. 2 kids. 1 wedding and many moons have passed since then and I am no further towards restoring this bike. It has covered just over 2000km in the last 4 years. The MOT ran out early this year and the bike is currently SORNed. We are now buying a family home. so it with a heavy heart that I have to let the bike go.

This is a good little project for someone with a little time and resource on their hands. nbsp;who can get this bike back to how it should be. It has had new air/oil filters. new spark plugs so mechanically is very good (Starts first click. even after a couple of weeks of being stood). Bike will be supplied with Haynes manual. paddock stand. spare black screen. v panel. disc lock. heavy duty lock and all sorts of other bits I have in the garage.

Please remember. this bike is 25 years old so it is showing signs of age related wear and tear. Some of the panels are cracked and there is a little bubble of rust coming through on the tank (see pictures). If you are reading this advert. you probably already know how great these bikes are and how desirable they are going to be in the future. Grab yourself a fun little project. and a future classic.
