In my opinion this scooter is in very nice condition for it's age and great quality too. I think I'm right in saying that when they were new the price was about ?3995 which was about the equivalent of a Suzuki 600 Bandit so Honda built these up to a standard rather than down to a price and when you ride it you can tell. It's very stable and surefooted for a small wheeled scooter. A bit slow to turn in compared to a motorcycle with 17" wheels but once it's leaning it's solid as a rock even on a bumpy surface. The engine is very torquey for a 250 and doesn't rev hard in use so it feels very relaxing to ride. Fuel consumption seems very good too! Comfort is superb with good wind and weather protection. This one is fitted with wind deflectors for hands and legs as well so even better. It's very good two up. I have taken both my daughters (teenaged) on the back and they both said very comfortable. I have owned this bike since August 2011 and as well as regular maintenance I have done some extras. The following is the stuff I remember: New good quality battery of a type that holds it's charge longer than ordinary. LED brake/tail and parking light in headlight (headlight is the same as the early Blackbird 1100 and is superb). new fork seals. one gave up. I think due to its age - both forks seals replaced with new fork oil and dust caps + neoprene gaitors. newish EBC sintered front brake pads. rear shoes checked (very good) cleaned rear drum and greased where required ie. brake cam. oil changes - Castrol full synthetic + Activ8 added (see internet for info). Air filter element changed to a K&N replacement element. coolant changed. Tyres are good but the 90 degree valves kept splitting at 60MPH or above so I replaced them with alloy ones which had the added benefit of being easier to use although access is a little fiddly as with small wheels there is not a lot of room. The top box is a Givi item and very large. easily taking upto 2 full face helmets. There is also a very large underseat storeage area. between the two you can accomodate a lot of gear or quite a good sized food shop if required. Brakes. by the way are Honda's linked system where the front lever operates the two outside pistons in the front caliper and the rear lever operates the rear brake and (with anything more than very light pressure) the middle piston in the front caliper via a bias valve. The brakes are smooth. progressive and have plenty of power and the scooter is very stable under braking. All in all a very practical and comfortable machine that will suit many purposes with Honda build quality and reliability. MOT expiry is 3rd July 2015. Mileage is 11017 miles. Just found the Owners Manual & Warranty And Service Booklet. Service Stamps as follows:01. 04. 1999 - !st service - Fowlers Motorcycles Bristol at 642 miles26. 10. 1999 - 4000 mile service TT Motorcycles Ltd Bristol at 4009 miles04. 04. 2005 - Work unspecified John Crookes Motorcycles at 9850 miles19. 05. 2011 - 10000 mile service + new battery John Crookes Motorcycles at 9930 milesI have some spares which will come with the bike including brakes shoes. drive belt + roller weights (all new) and some other bits. Two sets of keys for bike and top box. Also comes with a service manual. I can not deliver the scooter unless very locally and the buyer will otherwise need to arrange collection. CASH on collection will be required. I work Monday to Thursday nights from 6PM but I am around most other times should you need to contact me for any other information. My insurance for this bike is due on 17th December. Any (sensible) offers made with a view to completion of sale before this time are likely to be looked upon more favourably as this will save me the cost of renewal.
On 14-Dec-14 at 10:59:03 GMT. seller added the following information:OK. I've altered the price to my best price. If the topbox is not wanted I can take off another ?50. 00. It's as low as I can go. If the bike doesn't sell then so be it. I'll keep it and maybe try again in the spring.
