IF YOU WANT SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS THIS STUNNING BIKE. WHICH GOES AND SOUNDS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS. This was originally a 1980 CB750C imported from the US. I bought it 3 years ago and converted it to what you see today. Virtually all cycle parts have been stripped and rebuilt. including new master cylinder. fork seals. Hagon progressive fork springs. gold chain. Goodridge hoses. brake pads. Avon tyres etc etc. The wheels are now standard 19 and 18 inch and I converted it to twin front discs. although the rear remains a drum. The seat is a one-off fibreglass unit that I had professionally covered. The exhaust is road legal but very pleasant for those who like a bike to sound good. The most impressive part of the bike is the one-off hand-made petrol tank. Anyone who knows these early Hondas will appreciate that you can only get race-style tanks for the SOHC models. so I bought a damaged tank and cut the base out then fabricated a new unit from 1. 6 gauge steel. capping it off with a Monza-style fuel cap. It holds 18l with a 5l reserve so it has a proper range. The side panels are fabricated from the same steel. The whole bike weighs approx 200kgs rather than the standard 230kgs. and runs higher than standard gearing. A year ago I also bought a 1981 CB900F engine that had done 26k miles. advertised as one of the best around from an ex-show bike (full dynojet details and copies of magazine articles available). This made the bike even more fun to ride and throughout the summer I had a ball. until one of its cam chain tensioners decided to break up and a bit managed to drop into the cases. Luckily no serious damage was done but it has just had a complete engine rebuild as a result. i. e. all gaskets. new tensioners. rings. valve stem seals. the works. The cost has been over ?1000. It should now last a LONG time as long as the oil is changed regularly. The engine is not even run-in yet. The bike comes with quite a few spares. especially expensive and hard-to-find electrical items such as a full set of coils/leads/caps. ignition pulser coils and CDI unit. Also two discs. air pods. valve shims. some R & R rear shocks that I haven't fitted yet. and an as-new centre stand. I'm not going to get back what I have put into this bike because it now stands me in at over ?4000. with all receipts etc to prove it. But I do want a sensible price and above all for it to go to someone who will care for it and enjoy riding and working on it as much as I have. The only reason I'm selling it is because I was riding it just a bit too fast and furious every time I went out on it. it's just one of those bikes. and I feel I've probably pushed my luck far enough now. and it's time to get something that encourages a more sedate pace. Plus I've just got engaged so now I need a pillion seat for the love of my life ;-)PLEASE NOTE: The ONLY problem with this bike is the paintwork on the tank. Unfortunately the wrong paint seems to have been used because it has bubbled up quite badly where fuel leaked from the cap onto a sheet it was wrapped in while the engine was being rebuilt. I will try to post a pic but basically it's going to need a proper respray. I haven't got time to get that done (esp not by the same guy who did the less than satisfactory job last time!) but it should cost ?100-150 max. Please note also that I love this bike too much to accept desultory offers and nor am I desperate to sell. so serious offers and buyers only please. In fact it would be much better to contact and talk to me on 07813 140054 before making an offer. Many thanks. Ian
