VINTAGE 1963 HONDA 55 C105 TRAIL CUB – AMAZING ORIGINAL SURVIVOR!
NO RESERVE AUCTION!!
This auction is for a 1963 HONDA 55 C105 TRAIL CUB. in amazing condition given its age – it is 52 years old! The photos are a large part of my description. so study them thoroughly. The bike was originally sold in 1963 and has spent most of its life in Colorado. and was purchased just recently from the owner that had owned it since 1970. It was last registered for the street in 1976 and has a student registration sticker on the rear fender from Colorado State University dated 1976 (see photos).
It starts easily and runs great. the transmission shifts great. and everything works on it as it should – except for the horn – sometimes the horn works. sometimes it doesn’t. The bike still has all original paint - it has some minor chips and dings and scratches from age and normal use and wear. but the paint still has plenty of shine. and most of the chrome is still very nice. The plastic side covers are original and are in good condition. The headlight housing is also original and it has light stress cracks from age and a crack below the horn grille that has been repaired.
The chrome on the front fender is lightly pitted but it has no dents or dings or scratches. and it has ‘Made in Japan’ stamped near the lower rear edge of the fender (see photo). I believe most of the parts on the bike are correct and original with the exception of the seat cover – the seat has been recovered in the past. and a matching vinyl center frame cover was also added.
There are three extra small holes that have been drilled in the original small luggage rack (see photos). The bike did not have a chrome luggage rack when I bought it – I added the chrome rack. The left rear hub does not have the lugs for the overlay sprocket. but I have the original overlay sprocket which is included with the bike – the sprocket doesn’t appear to have been used.
The front tire has cracks in the sidewalls - it is the original front tire and there’s still plenty of tread. The rear tire has been replaced and is in excellent condition. There is some very light pitting in the chrome of the wheel rims; there is one spoke missing in the rear wheel and the rear rim has a spot about 4” long that has some heavier rust in the chrome (see photo). The muffler has a couple scratches in it from the kick lever. but no dents or creases and it is not rusted. I’ve had some folks tell me this muffler is not correct for this year and model - others have told me it is correct.
Study the pictures closely - this motorcycle is a solid. mostly original. really nice survivor - maintain this as a nice original piece of motorcycling history…or just a very easy restoration of an historic early classic Honda!
