One-of-a-kind. competitive AHRMA race-bike designed by Shasta Smith - owner of the Vintage Monkey and host of the FYI Network TV show Red Hot Design! Shasta Smith is a talented creator of vintage motorcycles and an eccentric designer of interior / exterior architectural spaces using re-purposed industrial elements.
Documented build cost exceeded $11K+. Cost to duplicate (to this standard) would exceed that amount.
This is a LOW RESERVE 10 DAY Auction. Some lucky bidder will own this high-spec race-bike with a very interesting history!
This bike was raced with distinction during the 2013 racing season by AHRMA National Champ Dennis Parrish - co-sponsored by the Vintage Monkey and my own vintage Honda focused business: Randakk's Cycle Shakk.
• Finished 3rd Nationally in the 2013 AHRMA 350 Sportsman class. Remarkable given a season-ending crash (on another race-bike) at Barber. In fact. this bike led the national standings before the last weekend of racing at Daytona!
• Won 19 of 19 races in the SMRI series – Albuquerque. NM. Won several SMRI class championships.
• These results are even more remarkable when you consider that our very talented rider is linebacker sized!
For the past year. the bike has been on display in Shasta Smith's Sacramento. California studio. The bike had "cameo" appearances in all 7 episodes of the premier season of Shasta’s Red Hot Design TV show.
The bike was built to a very high standard using the best components and lots of Italian "bling. " It uses the preferred CL350 frame (reinforced) which like the Honda CB350 version - has competitive advantages compared to the SL350 model frame. It was also remarkably reliable. No DNSs and no DNFs during its one full season of competition! Add fresh fuel. battery and rubber and you're ready to go racing with a very competitive mount!
I also used this bike myself to pass AHRMA's Fast and Safe road-racing school at NOLA. This is an excellent track day bike! Or - a unique exotic for the collector who wants a special bike with real race "cred" that was built to an aesthetic level rarely seen on racing machinery.
Would be a great conversation piece as a static display for any private collection. restaurant or coffee shop …but I would prefer that this bike is acquired by someone who plans to continue its distinguished racing career.
This is a special bike that goes as good as it looks. Draws a crowd wherever it appears!
This is an well-maintained machine. The assembly / paint was expertly done in 2013. Beyond that. it does have the honest patina of actual racing action. It will require new rubber and a fresh battery.
Good examples like this are attracting lots of interest from collectors. A somewhat similar CB350 race-bike with top equipment and a famous owner (stuntman Gary Davis) recently fetched $12K at the Mecum Auction in Las Vegas.
Decide for yourself what it’s worth. but the bike offered here in this auction bike has top equipment. was ridden with distinction by a National Champion. was designed by a bona fide celebrity and is owned by a notorious Honda enthusiast!

On Jan-19-15 at 09:57:15 PST. seller added the following information:I have received several private messages concerning whether the winning bidder might receive any sponsorship funding from me to compete with this bike during the upcoming 2015 AHRMA season. My answer - I might have interest in pursuing that. It all depends on several factors including: final sales price. skill and past AHRMA experience of the winning bidder. nbsp;commitment of the winning bidder to mount a reasonable campaign. etc. etc. I already have a primary sponsored rider for 2015 (Dennis Parrish) and I am also a sponsor on Will Brint's CBX. but you never know. Please send those inquiries to me directly via the contact form. Thanks.
On Jan-21-15 at 05:19:14 PST. seller added the following information:Cafe racer ? I have also received several private messages concerning the feasibility of converting this bike back to street use as a cafe-racer. The mechanical conversion would be fairly straightforward involving items such as: starter. kick-starter. nbsp;charging system. lights. etc. . etc. However. this would necessarily undo much of the expensive race engineering and race componentry. One such example is the Italian Cappellini oil cooler setup which mounts where the starter would normally ride on a street bike. The real limitation is the lack of a valid current title. Overcoming the lack of a title would be a major obstacle in most states. So. I would not recommend this bike as a particularly good candidate for conversion to a street-legal caferacer for most buyers. Thanks.
On Jan-21-15 at 13:46:42 PST. seller added the following information:Autographed T-shirts? I’ve received several questions about whether the winning bidder might receive an autographed T-shirt from Shasta Smith. The answer to that is yes for sure.
I’ve also fielded questions about whether the winning bidder would actually get to meet Shasta Smith in person. That depends on mutual scheduling logistics of course. but probably can be arranged when the bike is picked up in Sacramento. CA assuming the winning bidder is a solid citizen . and passes background checks. :)
