Description

This bike has been my ongoing project for years. I have no idea how many hours I have invested into drawing. fabricating. and rebuilding to get to where it sits today. Along the way I have accumulated a stockpile of parts that will all go along with the bike. including a spare. clear-titled '71 CL450 frame. and complete but partially disassembled CB500T engine. as well as extra body parts. swingarms. headlights. custom parts. etc. Unfortunately. despite all the time I've put into the bike. it's time to let someone else put their finishing touches on the project and take it out on the road. I just have too many other commitments and do not want to see this sit. Here are some of the details. obviously more can be seen in the pictures as well. Based on 1971 Honda CL450. It uses its original engine. frame. and wheels. as well as some small parts. The frame was stripped and all unnecessary brackets were removed. including the original rider and passenger foot peg brackets. The rider's foot controls are now mounted on custom fabricated. tubular supports which are blended into the frame with lead for a smooth filet. An upswept. custom rear hoop was also fabricated and fitted to the frame. The original forks were stripped of their fender lugs and given an eye-catching. machined detail. The fork stanchions were replaced with new-old-stock genuine Honda tubes. The swingarm is from a CL360; This extends the wheelbase by about 2 inches and completely transforms the stance of the bike. It was machined to accept the original CL450 rear wheel. The fuel tank began as the original CL450 part. with many hours put in to reshaping the sides. and removing and "leading-in" the badge brackets. I have an extra fuel tank which is also reshaped in a similar fashion but will need some work to finish. Firestone replica tires from Coker are installed on the original Honda wheels. These are obviously not the least expensive option but I think they were vital in achieving the truly vintage. authentic look. The original 450 engine has great compression (135+ P. S. I. on each side). runs and shifts without issues. and is fitted with freshly rebuilt. original Keihin carburetors. As with any project there are details that need to be wrapped up depending on how you want to finish the bike. The largest obstacles will be for you to make linkage for the foot controls. mount your choice of lights and wiring. and determine what bars you want to run (I have had many ideas that I think would suit the rest of the design perfectly. but haven't had time to make them a reality). As far as paint and finish. I had intended to leave everything in bare metal. No paint scheme I could think of looked as cool as the raw metal and patina. The original frame is not titled. however this is not an issue in most states due to the bike's age. I can give you all the info for applying for a duplicate title. And. again. I am including an extra frame from the same year and model with a CLEAR TITLE IN HAND. Please consider the value of the time. design work. fabrication. raw materials. and parts that have gone into this project so far. Everything is located in Lititz. PA. a short and scenic drive from Philadelphia. Baltimore. D. C. . and New York. Trade offers will be considered! *** VIDEO OF THE BIKE RUNNING:
