After restoring a significant number of Huskys for others (a McQueen. John Penton ISDT. etc. ) and building a number of AHRMA legal. vintage race Huskys. also for others. I decided I needed a good play-bike for myself. legal in drought ridden So. Cal. (I also like the low seat height of these old bikes. ) But with an impending total knee replacement. I'll need something with an electric starter - if I'm able to ride at all. All fresh from front to rear:1. Professionally polished. later Husky Akront Green label rims w. replated spokes. new tires & heavy duty inner tubes. new all-rubber rim locks. Large 400 front brake hub for improved braking. 2. Rebuilt forks w. new seals. polished dampner rods. Replated top caps. Red Wing re-buildable rear shocks w. 1/2" shafts. 3. Powder-coated main frame; Grace silver paint w. gloss clear-coat on all other silver pieces. All new bolts. nyloc nuts & washers. 4. Fully rebuilt motor w. all new bearings & seals throughout; crank disassembled / checked for wear/marks (none!); new piston in fresh bore. New crank-end. Close ratio 5 speed trans. (I've ridden the wide ratio 6 speed: 1st gear is useless = major wheel spin. nbsp; runs out of RPM too quickly. ) 5. Later Motoplat ignition ('79-'81). model 9600192: small rotor . low RPM spark output. one 35 watt lighting coil. (easy starting & post- manufacturer failure problems). Output wires from stator to coil in new silver sheathing. Wire for headlight up under tank. 6. NOS "ACK" intake w. fresh Mikuni (set-up w. jetting known to work!). new rubber adapter. 7. Semi-gloss black powder-coated clutch. ignition and sprocket covers; baked-on hi-temp engine paint on cases. cylinder & head. 8. New rear fenders (Vintage Husky). nice used front. New aircleaner cover (Vintage Husky) w. clear coat. New Uni dual filter. 9. New plastic seat base w. mounts duplicating factory mounts; new longer Mag-4 style foam; new seat cover (Vintage Husky); all professionally installed. Longer seat fills the usual nut-buster gap to the tank. 10. New Terry Cable (the best) clutch & front brake cables. New Motion Pro throttle cable (like the in-line adjuster); genuine Gunnar Gasser throttle. New Oury grips. Renthal bars. Earlier Honda style clutch & brake levers for much easier pull. 11. Nice used red Vesco tank (best overall shape) w. good fit & mounting. Vesco cap & petcock. In-line filter thru new hose. 12. Later Husky footpegs w. sharpened teeth for excellent grip. 13. Kickstarter arm heated & bent to allow a full kick-thru without slamming into the footpeg. Upper pivot drilled for 3rd detent hole. holding the pivot-arm out / in-place. New rubber case-bumper. New upper rubber rotates w/o sliding off. 14. New chain on excellent sprockets. 15. Later GP exhaust that tucks in SO much better than a stock '72. has a built-in spark arrestor. yet only weighs 10 ozs. more. New fiberglass packing. Old oil inside completely burned out. Baked-on. hi-temp semi-gloss engine paint. I've only ridden it up/down the street once to check the jetting. shifting. brakes so the engine and brake shoes will need to be broken in before any serious/hard riding.
