ACCORDING TO INDIAN, HE ROADMASTER IS NOT BASED ON THE CHIEFTAIN. ACTUALLY, HE CHIEFTAIN IS BASED ON THE ROADMASTER. FROM THE VERY FIRST CONCEPTION OF AN INDIAN TOURING PLATFORM, HE COMPANY KNEW THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO BUILD A BIKE TO COMPETE WITH HARLEY-DAVIDSON'S ULTRA LIMITED. SO, HE ROADMASTER/CHIEFTAIN CHASSIS WAS ENGINEERED TO CARRY THE EXTRA WEIGHT THAT COMES WITH LUXURY TOURING EQUIPMENT. THE ROADMASTER COMES WITH A CLAIMED DRY WEIGHT OF 897 LBS, UITE A BIT HEAVIER THAN THE CHIEFTAIN'S 815 LB DRY WEIGHT, ND HEAVIER THAN THE ULTRA LIMITED (861 LBS).

THE IMPORTANT UNDERPINNINGS OF THE ROADMASTER ARE NOW FAMILIAR, HANKS TO THE CHIEFTAIN: THE AIR-COOLED 111-CUBIC INCH V-TWIN THUNDERSTROKE 111 ENGINE HOOKED UP TO A SIX-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH WET CLUTCH; MULTI-PORT FUEL INJECTION WITH THROTTLE-BY-WIRE; AIR-ADJUSTABLE REAR SUSPENSION; 17.2-GALLON LOCKABLE HARD SADDLEBAGS; 16" WHEELS FRONT AND REAR; ELECTRICALLY-ADJUSTABLE WINDSCREEN ON A FORK-MOUNTED FAIRING. ROADMASTER GETS A UNIQUELY SHAPED "HORIZON" WINDSHIELD, AID TO PROVIDE BETTER WEATHER PROTECTION AND LESS GLARE THAN THE CHIEFTAIN SCREEN.

THE ROADMASTER ADDS A TON OF FEATURES THAT TRANSFORM THE BAGGER CHIEFTAIN INTO A LUXURY TOURING MACHINE. THE ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF LUXURY TOURING IS THE 17-GALLON TRUNK, HICH GETS A QUICK RELEASE FEATURE ON THE ROADMASTER. IN JUST SECONDS, ITHOUT TOOLS, OU CAN DISCONNECT AND REMOVE THE TRUNK FROM ROADMASTER, ERHAPS TO LEAVE IT AT HOME FOR A SLEEKER LOOK. WITH TYPICAL ATTENTION TO DETAIL, NDIAN HAS DESIGNED A CLEVER VELCRO-SEALED POUCH AT THE BACK OF THE PASSENGER PILLION TO TUCK AWAY THE TRUNK'S WIRING (FOR THE LED TAIL LIGHT, 2-VOLT OUTLET AND TWIN 50-WATT SPEAKERS) AND PLUG WHEN THE TRUNK IS OFF OF THE BIKE. A CHROME BUMPER ON THE TRUNK ALSO ACTS AS A HANDLE AND AS A SECURE STAND WHEN THE TRUNK NEEDS TO BE STORED, O THE TRUNK'S PAINT DOESN'T GET SCRATCHED UP. GOOD THINKING.
ADDITIONAL LUXURY FEATURES INCLUDE HEATED GRIPS, ENUINE LEATHER DESERT TAN SEAT WITH INDIVIDUAL HEATING CONTROLS, DJUSTABLE PASSENGER FLOORBOARDS, ND TONS OF CHROME. A FEW CHROME ADDITIONS LIKE THE FRONT FENDER TIP AND CHROMED LUGGAGE RACK ON TOP OF THE TRUNK HEARKEN BACK TO THE OLD ROADMASTER FROM THE ORIGINAL INDIAN MOTORCYCLE.
OVERALL, HE NEW ROADMASTER MANAGES TO EVOKE THE ART DECO AIR OF THE INDIANS OF THE 1940S AND EARLY 1950S, AKING THE CUES THAT HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED FOR THE CHIEFTAIN AND ELEVATING THEM EVEN FURTHER WITH THE FULL-DRESS TREATMENT.

THIS 2015 INDIAN ROADMASTER IS IN OVERALL EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE BIKE RUNS AND SHIFTS PERFECTLY AND HAS NO MECHANICAL FAULTS. INDEPENDENT INSPECTIONS ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED.
