Expert restoration by former Indian racer and Indian historian and publisher Butch Baer. owner of A Century of Motorcycling publishing. Maintained by Indian aficionados Michael Baer and Duffy Batchelder. Used for daily rides throughout NH country side throughout the summer. Never ridden in inclement weather. Starts easy on the first kick after two priming kicks. runs and handles great. I leave my Harley buddies in the dust in tight corners. Small paint chip on back of front fender but nothing major at all. I added electronic ignition but have the original parts to convert back to points. Engine is super strong 45 cubic inch with Bonneville heads and race cams. As Duffy says. "That's a real snotty engine. " Does not have matching frame and engine numbers. Custom tandem seat made from same period BMW passenger seat with custom leather saddle with stamped Indian logo. This mounts to the luggage rack with 4 bolts but I have not built foot pegs for passenger. Generator was rebuilt in 2010. A new ignition was purchased that same year. New tires. front wheel bearings and chain in 2014. Have customer mounting plates for kidney style saddlebags but no saddlebags. When speedometer cable is spun by hand. nbsp;speedometer seems to work but gear is not connected in rear wheel hub so speedometer doesn't work presently. I have no idea of the actual mileage but I had to enter something for this ad so entered what was on the odometer. Frame is #642366 and engine is just stamped 'Baer'. Butch Baer told me that he 'built the engine from all parts of that era'. Outside of new heads gaskets in 2010. engine has not been apart since 1995. I know the heads are Bonneville from when I replaced the heads gaskets. It did work intermittently when I first bought the bike in 2009. I have no idea of the actual mileage but I had to enter something for this ad so entered what was on the odometer. On Oct-05-14 at 16:39:54 PDT. seller added the following information:I am definitely a rookie at selling on eBay. just realizing that I don't need to re-type my entire description to add to it. I asked Butch Baer about the engine and all he could tell me was that 'all the parts in the engine were of the same era'. Butch is 88 now and did the restoration/rebuild of my Indian in 1995. Since then he has probably restored at least 5 more Indians. I do know that it has Bonneville heads which were verified to me by Duffy Batchelder when I replaced the head gaskets in 2010. I have no idea which parts in the Indian are original or replacements but do know that the bike was complete taken apart and rebuilt/restored by Butch. This is one reason why I feel very comfortable riding at highway speeds with my buddies for short trips here in NH.
