Description

This very unique and old motorcycle was modified by Motorcycle Hall of Fame builder Roy Burke. Roy was a leading racer and national hillclimber from 1930’s through the 1950’s. In 1952, oy earned the Class C Open Hillclimb national title in Lewiston, daho. Roy’s biggest accomplishment was winning the Big Bear Run in Southern California in 1955. He was one of the original founders of the Oregon Motorcycle Oldtimers, club dedicated to preserving antique motorcycles and the history of the sport in that region of the country.

This old bike began as a 1936 Indian Scout with a stock 750 CC engine. Roy stroked the engine to 900 CC and added a swing arm and shocks to the rear suspension. He also fitted disc brakes to the front and back. Currently the front disc is removed, ut all the parts to reinstall it will be sold with the bike. The rear disc brake stops the bike quite well. It has the traditional “Jockey” shift on the left of the gas tank and a foot clutch also on the left side. Spark is on the left while the accelerator is on the right. It has the patina of use and age that looks just right. I have enjoyed owning this cool Indian. I purchased it in 2008 and have ridden it pretty much that whole time. It is a fast bike and handled well. After a few years of ridding it, y mechanic noticed that the front brake caliper was slamming into the stop on the front forks and had created a crack in the forks. Since then I have removed the front brake and had a new set of front forks built and installed. After repairs, have started the bike and rode it about 5 miles. It is a running and riding bike, ut will need some sorting out to bring it back to its reliable condition. I have a Montana bill of sale on the bike. I am a licensed dealer in Alabama. I’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have. For more information contact Bill at Mitchell Classics 334-224-0337
