Description

1940 Indian 4

By 1940 the Indian 4 had come to its final and ultimate design. It saw the introduction of its iconic skirted fenders and plunger rear suspension. This was the 2nd to last year of production. The last American four cylinder, they were always expensive to produce, purchase and maintain.I think I heard that they sold for just over $1000 in this year when you could buy a Chevrolet automobile for approxamitely $600! Often referred to as the Deusenberg of motorcycles, this machine, frame number 440481 and engine number DDO481 had the engine rebuilt in 2007.It presents very well in its refinish in Dupont Kashan green,a factory period correct color. The wheels are the optional 16 inch size and it has a lockout foot clutch. It start, runs and rides well.Arguably the most striking and luxurious Classic American motorcycles ever manufactured. Please call Michael Kiernan at (314)772-5758
