Description
Offering a very nice, nd certainly unusual 1976 Indian MT-175. Not something you see everyday for sure. Mostly in original condition as it came from the factory in 1976, his little bike has been tuned up, leaned up, ainted, nd detailed to showcase its originality.
With not much information out there, he best guess is that less than 400 of these MT-175s were manufactured in 1976, he last year of production by Indian. Featuring a Minarelli motor with Mikuni carburetor, oth as originally spec'd at the time. Everything works as expected: the motor, ront forks and rear shocks, lutch, earbox, rakes, tc. Stored in a heated garage and ridden sparingly, he bike starts up right away when cold and after a couple of minutes of warming up screams with authority and power in a way the smaller Indian 100cc and 125 cc models simply cannot achieve. Acquired after an amateur restoration, ecessary repairs were made over the past year to bring it as close to original and as period correct as possible. The carburetor was overhauled and many parts were replaced. These include: new black Oury grips, ustom fabricated air filter, hrottle cable, eat cover, nd numerous fasteners. The correct original coffin-shaped gas tank, enders and correct fiberglass side panels were all professionally painted using quality auto body paints and primers. Apologies include dried and cracked original tires, nd an incorrect seat from an MI-175. The cover is new but the seat is not the correct MT shape. This has proven to be a difficult item to source so far. The frame, ngine, nd some miscellaneous items have been rattle can sprayed, nd would benefit from a professional job, here are some chips and scrapes here and there. Also a dent in the front rim, ardly noticeable but it is there, s well are some rusty spokes, nd small chassis parts. It is an absolute blast to ride and I can attest that it turns heads anywhere and everywhere it is seen. The bike is a living, reathing antique, ovingly cared for and tended to, eady to be enjoyed by someone who passionately cares for the preservation of these unique icons of motorcycling history. A great addition to any Vintage dirt bike collection or as a rider racer. Do not miss this one chance to own a true collector’s dream. Also published at eBay.com
