Vintage 1946/47 Indian Chief Motorcycle, great restoration/bobber project

This 1946/47 Indian Chief was found in Virginia in the 1960s by AMCA member Charles ?ˆ?Chuck?ˆ? Garrett. According to his son. Chuck was driving down the road one day in the early 1960s and spotted it laying against the side of a barn or garage. He struck a deal with the owner to buy it. He rode it for several years. Took it apart at one point to repaint it and while it was apart. his son traded the original frame to a Naval Seaman. From what the numbers tell us. the motor is a 1947 and the frame is a 1946.  The motor is not locked up. It last ran 10 to 12 years ago. but it has been sitting ever since. and the gas that remains in the tanks has gone bad. The tanks can be cleaned and reused.
