1953 Original Indian Chief motorcycle with sidecar located in Belgium This is 1953 indian roadmaster chief motorcycle with side car. This is a complete numbers matching bike as shown in the pictures of the casting stamps. The matching motor and frame #s are CS - 61253. This five digit number indicates this was the last of the old Indian company production. Some sources say there were no more than three hundred of these built in the spring of 1953. The number seems to indicate this was the 253th bike of this final run. This bike has been trouble free and very enjoyable to ride since restoration in the mid 1970?ˆ™s. The engine was getting noisy and she needed some attention. All gas and oil was drained and she has been sitting motionless for 30 years. So I decided to purchase her from the previous owner in 2005. After all that time I thought to rebuild her completely but due to the fact that I have to many projects on hand I decided to do the complete overhaul of just the engine. Cylinders have been bored to the correct 0. 30 mm oversize new pistons that I bought from Jerry Greer. I overhauled the frontend to solve the leakage of the oil there and I mounted the side car on her. The seats were scratched and moisture came into the seats so I decided to put new leather covered seats in it in black color so as the bike is. This means the new owner can ride this beauty right away. I put a new electric coil on it just in case. I still have the old original one that works fine. I had a slight bend in the front crash bars straightened and the heating process to do this spoiled some of the chrome. I toke the crash bar off to attach the sidecar on her. The old 6 volt electrical system works fine. The bike has never had an accident and has always been stored inside. Equipment includes a windshield 1953 type. spotlights. a pair of Indian leather saddlebags and a rear bumper. The rims are chrome plated but there is some rust on the rear one. I had a new speedometer installed. I have still the original speedo restored and well working on the shelve that goes with the bike at an additional price. if the new owner is interested. This bike has all original sheet metal. but the generator belt cover. The frame and everything black has been powder coated. All of the lights work including the side car lights and the front Indian fender light. The generator has been rebuilt. The 80 c. i. overhauled motor has now 1000 miles on it. The tranny is a 3 speed and shifts perfectly. There is a reverse price. I keep the right to take the bike from the auction if somebody is interested and offers me the price that I want. It has the original clutch installed with absolutely no grinding when shifting into low gear. This bike runs and looks perfect. This is the most desired Indian motorcycle ever made!
