Kawasaki ER5 500cc commuter motorcycle - for repair / project / spares

Kawasaki ER5. Naked commuter motorcycle. For repair / project / spares. This bike will be a great project; perfect if you're looking for a simple machine to work on. learning about servicing motorcycles. or just looking for a bargain bike to get up to scratch. I've had it for around two years. and commuted on it regularly. It only had one owner before me. It does need some work and it's not currently safe to ride.   There are problems with both front and rear brakes. all of which will need replacing. The drum brake is warped and it'll need a new rear wheel. There's a nail in the rear tyre which isn't repairable and will need to be replaced. The chain and sprockets are worn and need to be replaced. and the side stand sometimes doesn't cut out the engine when it's in gear. As far as I know the engine is fine; it's only done just over 21000 miles. but it could do with a bit of care. Aesthetically. it's in relatively good condition bearing in mind it's age. There are a few spots of rust but nothing that looks terminal. There are a couple of chips to the paint on the petrol tank. and the rear near side fairing is broken where the bolt holds it in. and probably needs replacing. I can forward more pictures of specific areas if required. For some reason that I can't understand the owner before me thought that flashing lights glued on the front of the dials would be a good idea. I've had tape over them since I've had the bike. but they'll be easy enough to disconnect. Bidders should note this is an auction listing and you're bidding to buy the bike. not to come and view it and decide if you want it. If you're the high bidder at the end. then you commit to buying. Please also note that this bike is not currently road legal in it's condition. and you will need a van or a trailer to collect it. It can not be ridden away. The ER5 is a fantastic bike; lightweight. easy to ride. fun. and economical. This bike just needs a bit of care to get it back up to the standard it should be.
