Rare 2000 Kawasaki W650 - low miles

About 3. 00 W650s were sold in the US during the 2000 and 2001 sales seasons. They arrived right when the "new" Triumph Bonnevilles were released in this country. Comparisons were inevitable. with each bike having strengths and weaknesses vs. the other brand. Triumph kept going. but Kawasaki pulled the plug in 2001 for US sales. The bikes were built from 1999 to 2008. selling worldwide. beyond the US shores. I have owned this bike for about 2 years now and it is one of my favorite rides of all times. and I have owned hundreds of Honda bikes and lots of interesting cars. When I purchased it. the previous owner had changed out the turn signals and put a H-D Tombstone tail light on the back. I have returned it back to stock configuration now. using parts from another W650. which I just purchased. These bikes regularly return between 40 and 50mpg. depending upon your riding style. The bike is essentially stock except for a Dyno-Jet jet kit. The previous owner chose to punch out the rear baffles of the mufflers. so although it looks stock it does have a bit of a bark to it. New tires and spark plugs have just been installed this week. The drive chain was replaced last year. as were the brake pads. Oil was changed in Dec. just before my knee operation. The stock seat pan has a broken forward "tongue" which could be remedied with a bit of aluminum and a few screws or pop-rivets. There is a two point rear mount. so the seat is secure as it is. This is a bike to ride. Ask anyone who owns one and they will rave about what a fine-handling and great sounding bike they are. I appreciate some of the "mint" condition offerings on eBay. but this is not a garage queen or living room ornament. It gets lots of compliments wherever it goes. as few people were aware that the bike was even sold in the US and that was 15 years ago now. This is a bike that puts a smile on your face every time you see it. hear it and ride it. Bargain price for a timeless design with bullet-proof reliability.
