Description
1977 KZ1000
completely refurbished-currently not running Everything on this bike has either been replaced, ebuilt, epainted or cleaned. It was refurbished to a cafe' racer vibe. New dyna electronic ignition and coils Cylinders honed and new rings Carbs rebuilt by Personal Cycle Service Daytona new intake collars, ets and cables New POD filters New petcock Tank coated (it came that way) Period correct Kerker header Rebuilt and polished front forks and new headlight mounting ears Rebuilt brake calipers and cylinders and stainless steel lines. Bike lowered 1.5” new rear shocks Rebuilt speedo and tach New handlebar control switches Black powder coated lowered handlebars New grips New mirror New seat foam and cover New battery, ables, iring harnesses and many electrical components. New led turn signals and rear brake light. All lights working All new hardware throughout. The bike last ran about 6 months ago. It was always hard to warm up and get to idle. At idle there was a rattle and low power from idle to about 2200 rpms. The rattle disappeared at any throttle and at 2200 hold on because it roared. The motor was then disassembled, ll cases polished and housings bead blasted. The cam chain tensioner was worn (source of rattle we believe) and replaced as was the cam chain. The head was sent to Pit Stop Performance in Orlando and given complete valve job, uides etc.. The bike was re-assembled and upon start-up there is a now a fuel leak at the pipe joint between carb 1 and 2. There was spark but I couldn't work on it long due to the fuel leak so I haven't gotten it running. I have the parts to fix the leak. Here's what remains to be done:- Remove carbs, epair leak.
- Get it running and tune it. I'm not sure if the low power from idle to 2200 rpms needs to be dealt with. I believe it is either a carb or timing issue. It may be the advance springs.
- Bleed brakes
- Paint the header. I was waiting to get it running to cure the paint properly.
