1977 Kawasaki KZ1000A
77 was the first year for the 1000cc KZs, his one was returned to close to original over a 4 month period. I do believe it has the front end from an LTD which features dual disc brakes, shorter fender and more chrome around the gauges and headlight. The brakes both front and rear have been rebuilt, raided steel lines were added in the front and all of the bearings in the wheels, wing-arm, nd steering head have been replaced. We painted the bodywork back to the original color, eplaced the seat and all of the signals and lenses and made sure that everything works. All of the keys and locks were replaced with a matching set. The carbs were rebuilt, ubber boots replaced, E airbox and filter reinstalled, ut the engine has not been opened up or rebuilt. The carburetors are Mikuni VM29 "smoothbore" which were a hotrod bolt-on from the era. I installed a great set of original exhaust and the correct center stand. Wheels were checked and trued and bearings replaced along with new performance tires installed.
The bike runs, nd shifts, nd rides great and it looks beautiful but it is not a full restoration and is not perfect. It would make a fantastic everyday rider for someone who loves Iconic/ nostalgic Kawasaki superbikes.
In my experience a bike finished like this is far more enjoyable to own if you want something to ride and you don't want to worry about wear and tear on a perfect restoration.
I do not know if the mileage is correct and I suspect it is not since I think the entire front-end was swapped out (gauges and all) by a previous owner.
