As "they" say - They are only original once.
I have for sale a 1976 Kawasaki 500 triple, odel No. KH500-A8. This year was the last year that the 500 2-stroke triples were made and based on research, his bike is one of the later ones to come out of the factory. This bike has the correct engine (original) for the frame No.
For those that don't know -- The engine/frame Nos very seldom are an "exact" match.
This bike has NOT been restored, t is very much original. The previous owner swapped out the original higher bars to have a "low" bar set, nd they, f course, re not original. The rest of the bike has its original parts. This bike has the original hard to find 3 into 1 air boot and with a new air filter inside of the air canister. The very restrictive snorkel HAS been removed.
The engine in this bike is on its original bore (no oversized pistons) and all 3 cylinders have between 145-150 psi compression. The crankcase has passed both a leakdown and pressure test to assure that the crankshaft seals are good. I have updated the oil injection line check valves by replacing the small spring and stainless ball in all 3 oil lines. The connection of these oil lines to the oil pump has been updated to have stat-o-seals to prevent any oil line leaking or getting air into the oil injection system. The fuel valve (petcock) has been re-built and does not leak. The carbs have been completely cleaned and checked for correct jetting.
This bike has brand new tires and tubes on both the front and rear. The gearbox oil is fresh and it has Belray Gearsaver 85 weight, hich is a recommended wet clutch transmission oil.
The clutch does not slip and the tranny shifts as it should. I did not split the engine and it does not appear to ever have been split in the past.
I think this bike is a very good example of an original survivor of this model of Kawasaki. There are some small dings/imperfections on the bodywork and exhausts, ut after having cleaned it up, t seems to still "sparkle", ven though it is a 40 year old motorcycle. The inside of the gas tank has no rust. It is apparent that it has been stored in a good environment and taken care of.
It runs very well and I recently took it on a fairly long test trip to make sure it was and is sound. It pulls very strong.
I have a clear Minnesota Title in my name.It has current year (2016) license tabs.I will include the owner's manual.
Test rides by qualified drivers are welcome.
These Kawasaki 2-strokes are becoming very collectible and their value has been increasing quite a bit.
If you have any questions about this bike, lease ask.
I have been asked if "I know for certain that the crank has not been re-built".The short answer is NO, do not know for certain.I purchased this bike as a "non-runner" and I am NOT the original owner/purchaser of this bike. It had a bad ignition coil and was not running at the time I acquired it.
