Description

There in no Buy It Now price on this bike - the high bidder at the end of the auction gets it! Here's a 1970 model Kawasaki H1 500cc 3-cylinder for parts or restoration. VIN/frame # KAF 12386, ngine # KAE 11327, anufactured 12/69. NO TITLE, ot even salvage! (Had to put something in that box to list it.) It does have keys. It's obviously been sitting for many years - has a PA inspection sticker on it, ut the date is worn off. Some other stickers are dated 1973. I bought this from a guy who rescued it from the scrapyard. I gave it a MUCH-needed bath, nd now it's your turn to own it!

The engine is locked tight, nd it will not go into any gear - shaft moves but nothing happens. Clutch pulls, ut without it being in gear there's no way to tell if it's releasing. Figure on a complete engine/transmission rebuild. Some salient points:

  • Bike was obviously dumped, aybe more than once. See the pics for the worst of the damage.
  • Gas tank is rusty inside and out (especially out), ut I can't find any holes in it. Has one dent in the right side.
  • Pipes are original and solid, ut damaged from the spills and the head pipes are rusty inside the bends.
  • The wheels are pretty darn nice, specially the front one. It was covered with fork oil and dirt, hich preserved the chrome. Same with the fork sliders. Note that there's been no chrome cleaner used on anything - just kerosene followed by Gunk Engine-Brite.
  • The brakes are stiff but not frozen.
  • The fenders are nice - no dents. The tip of the front one is scuffed, ut it should buff out. It is not deformed/flattened at the scuff.
  • Seat pan is solid as new. Foam is not crunchy or powdering, cover has tears but it could be used for a while as-is.
  • Right rider's footpeg is bent forward. Right passenger peg is bent downward and hinge is loose (won't stay up).
Things that are missing:
  • Both gauges
  • Left side cover
  • Sprocket cover
  • Most of the throttle assembly and the front brake lever
  • Steering lock
A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required within 24 hours of the auction's end. Remainder to be paid in cash on pickup or bank wire transfer. This is being sold as "Local Pickup Only" - buyer is responsible for making and paying for any and all shipping arrangements. I will work with your shipper, and if necessary can haul/deliver it within about 200 miles for $1.00 per loaded mile. I can deliver it for free to the British & European meet in Clarksburg, D on Sun. the 22nd. I can deliver it to AMA Vintage Days in Mid- Ohio in July, ut it has to be paid for in full now (bank wire or cashier's check).

I have more pictures and can take ones of anything you want to see. Ask any questions BEFORE bidding, lease, nd GOOD LUCK!

On May-07-16 at 07:21:56 PDT, eller added the following information:

Someone asked whether the oil pump protector was green plastic or aluminum - it's plastic. I have a picture if you want to see it. While checking that out, saw that the alloy cover over the distributor, tc. is ground away on the corner (crash damage), omething I hadn't noticed before. Email for a picture - I can't add any more pictures to the listing. I also noticed that the left headlight ear has a crack starting top and bottom just behind the headlight mounting bolt. It must have been bent and straightened in the past.
