Up for auction is the legendary Kawasaki Z1-, nown in the encyclopedia of motorcycles as," KING OF THE SUPER BIKES ! This is a GREAT bike that runs FANTASTIC. It could use a good detailing & needs nothing else. All electronics work with the exception of the self canceling turn signals. The turn signals work just don't self cancel. The bike is currently tagged,inspected,& insured. It does have quite a few enhancements of which are : 34 mm Mikuni smoothbore carbs,K&N pod air filters, ock up clutch,Dyna III ignition plate,module & coils, igh performance cam with dial in/adjustable camshaft sprockets,engine case guards,Italian made footpeg set backs & front fork brace,& a 4 into 1 Vance & Hines header. Paint is original with addition of some hand painted pin strips from Daytona Bike Rally back in the day. It has a couple of scratches on the front fairing that are in the paint but not into the fiberglass. This is a GO bike NOT a Show bike.I have been riding Z1s since 1975 & owned many & still do. This bike is from my personal collection & I truely thought I would NEVER sale this bike ! I to this day believe this is the BEST bike ever built ! At age 61 I have lost vision in one eye so I am going to let someone else enjoy my bike instead of having a land monument. The main thing this bike needs is a new rider. They were known to be bullet proof. This bike has had a recent valve shim adjustment & is spot on perfect on a ported & polished high performance head. Unlike a stock engine this bike @ 8,000 RPM comes alive instead of falling on it's face & will go through the gears like a dirt bike !The petcock lever was shorten to fit in the larger carbs & still use reserve fuel.It has a 78 160 mph speedometer with a 18" 1978 front wheel to jive up calibration instead of the 1980 19" wheel & 80 MPH speedo thanks to Jimmy Carter. This bike will easily do 80 mph in 2nd gear.The Z1-R had refinements that were only matched on the Police bikes,mainly needle bearings in the rear swingarm instead of bushings. This bike also has high performance rear shocks that are easily adjusted for a passenger.Front & rear tires along with chain & sprockets are in great shape.The Kawasaki KZ1000 Z1R was the brainchild of Wayne Moulton, nown as the “Father of the Japanese Cruiser” Considered the godfather of Japanese Sport bike. The Z1-R was a favorite at drag strips and was the first bike to break the 12-second quarter mile. It was also the first Japanese bike to come with a fairing. This is a rare chance for winning bidder to own a GREAT bike that they will be VERY proud of & is a definite piece of motorcycle history that will to this day hold it's own against almost any bike on the road with the exception of the $50,000 Kawasaki H2.

The Z1-R set many records in road racing & drag racing. The Z1 & KZ linage was Kawasaki's first attempt @ a four stroke motor & they did it as good as they could.

In my opinion they later cheapened the motors just like Chevrolet did to the small block V-8.

Manufactures don't want a motor to live as long as you do, ust as long as the payments due !
