1992 ZX-7RR
For your consideration is a 1992 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R K2. A true K model with only 7,724 miles. Every once and a while you get lucky to find what your looking for right in your back yard. This bike has only had two documented owners before me-- me being the third owner. The bike sold new from a local Connecticut Kawasaki dealership in 1992. It was purchased by owner one who owned it until 1995 and sold it to owner two with 705 miles. I have a copy of the original bill of sale from that transaction. Then it was sold to me in 2009 with 7,724 miles. For a collector bike, t is always good to have the documentation from the first owner to current. What would make the paper trail exceptional, s if I had the paperwork from the original dealer to the first owner(unfortunately I don't).
When I bought it, t wasshowing stock with all the warning labels and reflectors (note the rear reflectors aren't shown in the pictures below but I do have them and the bracket). The bike looks like it should with the low miles and has been meticulously taken care of. I had time to meet the previous owner and spend time with him and to get a feel for how important this bike was to him which is always a great sign. It is so nice when bikes are owned by enthusiasts and not just treated like transportation. He had every part that he removed from the bike saved in boxes to bring the bike back to stock (exhaust, ear OEM fender, eflectors, ven the original old battery that he had replaced!). He went on to state that this bike has never seen the rain or elements and always stored indoors and the condition seems to tell the same story. There is no rust or oxidation present anywhere on the bike. The bike has a couple of scratches on the tail section from the horrible awful design of the seat pad (this was clearly an afterthought in design) and some scratches on the underbelly that for sure were the usual loading ramp being too short. I do have the rear bump pad, ut don't keep it installed as it is too difficult to remove (it is in excellent condition).
Bodywork is 100% -- no scratches or cracks. Tank is 100% -- no scratches or dings. While looking through the pictures below, ou'll see pictures of the foam Kawasaki liked to use and use liberally which would just deteriorate very easy. From the underside of the tank, o inside the fairings it is just amazing how well it held up and that in itself is testimony to the bike not being stored outside or seeing any rain or inclement weather. Proof is in the pudding so to speak...ok, am getting ahead of myself.
The bike really does look and shows very well. It comes with the Muzzy period correct stainless exhaust installed as well as the factory OEM exhaust that it was born with and is in excellent condition. This bike had a few aftermarket items such as the fender eliminator kit, ut luckily there was no modifications to the bike when this was added (meaning the owner didn't do anything that wasn't reversible). All of which I still have and will be passed along.
Once home the bike was stripped down to frame and motor (as seen in photos below), leaned, nd everything fussed over to make sure it was immaculate. Some photos show the original rear fender and some show the aftermarket (as I took these photos at different times). The bike was in the shape that was promised and was cleaned up, il and filter changed, uel and air filters changed (what a pain), ank and carbs drained, attery removed and discarded then put into climate controlled storage. Any paperwork was put into a binder for the new owner. This bike would make a nice addition to an existing collection and or start a new one. This bike is surely going to appreciate over time and in my opinion a great example of a ZX-7R! Please take the time to look over the pictures in great detail and decide if this bike is the right fit for you, sk questions if needed. Good luck and have fun!
The bike comes with:
- Binderwith all paperwork that I have
- Original keywith dealer code tag
- Misc. filters air/oil
