Description

2001 Kawasaki ZG1000 GTR Concours

Up for bid today is a very nice 2001 ZG 1000 Concours. Reality has set in that I’m not going to get this bike back on the road any time soon. Time to let it go to someone who can put it to better use than looking great while taking up space in my garage. It does not presently run due to bad storage. Bike was put in storage about 3 years ago running and riding fine. At some point when I was running it in storage, left the petcock on and gummed up the carbs. The bike has been stored with Seafoam in the tank and the gas has been changed out a number of times since it went into storage. It needs the carbs cleaned/idle adjusted and some electrical connections cleaned. That is the only known problem. It has an excellent Yuasa AGM battery that has been on a battery maintainer ever since put in about 2 years ago. See picture of a 13.20 volt charge.

The bike itself is otherwise in very nice condition and very well equipped. Take a look at the pictures (yeah, t’s a little dusty). It ran great before I put it away (out country for 8 months). A few months before it was stored, t got a new clutch and a set of new Metzler 880 tires (note mold whiskers still there), oth have about 3500 miles on them and the forks were rebuilt. It really rode great! As you can see in the pictures, t has a Cee Baily windshield (makes a huge difference! The original windshield will be included.), ork brace, ender extender, ack rest and rack, ip over bars, urph’s bolt kit, owered foot pegs (originals included), ank protector, inch bar risers, lymer manual and Kawasaki factory service manual, lexi headlight guard and last but not least, he original saddlebag mount covers are included for the streamlined off bag look.

The cosmetics of the bike are virtually new with no cracks, ents or missing pieces. There is a light scratch on the right sidecover that could be buffed out (I couldn’t get it to show up in a picture) and a tiny dent in the right silencer. There are also a couple small paint bubbles around the gas cap. The bags are fine and the locks work. This was a sweet ride for me when it was on the road but my riding needs have changed. I just don’t ride enough distance any more to marshal/maintain a touring bike, ven if it is arguably one of the most iconic sport touring bikes ever built. Concours were built largely unchanged for 20 years for a reason: they are great rides! I have too many bikes and this one simply will never be back on the road under my ownership. That would be a shame and a waste. I have set the auction with a fair opening bid and no reserve. I’d rather you get a great deal and be happy about getting this great bike back on the road than me trying to squeeze every dollar out of its sale.

There are no warranties expressed or implied. Although I can’t guarantee that there is no other problem with the bike, have no reason to try to deceive a potential buyer. High res pictures are available. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer but I’ll do my best to help on this end. Ask questions if you have them. Happy to answer. Thanks for reading this far.
