This very rare 1977 Kawasaki KZ400-A1 tourerhas recently been imported from North America where it has spent all its life ?ˆ“ the air is thin and the climate is far kinder to machinery than ours. This and the fact it's only showing5563 miles and has been in dry storage for the last umpteen years have helped maintain its boyish good looks. begs the question ?ˆ“ Why have a tourer & not use it?PLEASE CHECKOUT THE PICTURES. As you can see this bike is complete & remarkably original apart from the after market exhausts. The bike has obviously stood a while so the battery is flat & front brake is binding slightly. BUT NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The bike is every bit as nice as it looks here. The wheels are straight with nice cleanchrome rims. good hubs. brake plate. disc. caliper & working master cylinder. Forks & yokes look straight with good chrome. Mudguards are both solid & very tidy. Tail light assy is good as are the headlight & hangers. Instruments & switches look great. Fuel tank & side panels are solid. tank is squeaky clean enough inside and has just minor marks & scratches in the original paint. Carburetors are free sliding off the twist grip. Seat is in good condition with minor tears in the cover seams. Chain guard is tidy. The engine is cosmetically very clean. it turns over nicely off the kick starter ?ˆ“ sounds/feels great & has compression ?ˆ“ When we hooked it up to a good battery & fed it a few squirts of ether it starts & runs but the carbs do need cleaning.

REGISTRATION

1. You need to get the bike MOT?ˆ™d.

2. You need to prove the year of manufacture in writing. Phone Kawasaki UKs customer services on 01628 856643 with the frame & engine Numbers. /p>

3. You need to have valid insurance on the bike. You can insure it on the chassis number.

4. Send all this paper work to the DVLA. who will charge you £55 for the 1st registration & the current amount for the road tax.

5. The DVLA will send you a tax disc with your age related registration number.
