1979 Kawasaki KZ 650

This is a very original and unmolested bike which will be an easy project to complete without too much time and expense. The bike is 35 years old so does have some scrapes / dents / flaws so don't expect to ride off into the sunset without spending some time and a little money on it !!

This bike was one that I was going to keep but I am desperate for space hence it's for sale but I will not be giving it away !! But I am open to offers.

I have had tank . side panels and tailpiece painted just needs badges for the side panels to finish the job. The tank was powder coated and then primed before base coat and clear coat was applied. Plastics were rubbed down . primed and then base coat and clear coat. It is quite a nice job.

The chrome work is very good i. e. wheels . headlamp ears. indicators . rear shocks . mudguards etc. Clocks are nice showing just under 24. 00 miles which cannot be verified . but looking at the overall condition of the bike I would have no reason to doubt that this is genuine.

One fork stanchion has very slight pitting but not where it counts. The exhausts are original but the right hand one is showing signs of corrosion.

The all important seatbase is quite solid with no rot but has a few small tears in the vinyl.

It has original ignition key which also fits seat lock etc. Starts on the button but cuts in out on three and four cylinders. The bike ran well when stored away two years ago but suspect carbs need cleaning as there is a strong spark at the plugs . Doesn't smoke and is not rattly or noisy.

Both front and back brake are working and not seized. Tires are good but not sure how old they are. I don't think this bike has been one that has stood forever but has been used in the last 4 or 5 years.

The frame is in original paint and is in very good order . these frames are prone to rot around the rear footrest hangers but this is rot free.

There is no engine case / fin damage and no signs that it has been down the road.

The bike is not UK registered but it is registered on the HMRC NOVA database.
