My name is Jerod Walter and I maintain a collection of new and vintage motorcycles for a private collector. The bikes are insured. registered. kept full of conditioned fuel. connected to battery maintainers and stored in an air-conditioned showroom. ??Showroom Bikes?? are kept in top running condition and are regularly ridden on short notice. The bikes are detailed and refueled after each ride before returning to the showroom. Riding bikes regularly keeps the mysteries to a minimum and allows us to stay on top of any issues that arise. From time to time we ??thin the herd?? to make room for new arrivals. Incoming bikes. or ??Shop Bikes?? go to our bike shop for service. overhaul. and sometimes restoration before moving to the showroom. From time to time a Shop Bike never makes it to the showroom for one reason or another. So sometimes we sell Shop Bikes too. In each case we try to tell the full story of the bike and post lots of pictures. I?m always available by phone to talk about the bikes and answer any questions.
Offered from the Showroom: First Year 1973 Kawasaki Z1.
Documented early numbers-matching 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900. the first year for this ??CB750-killer. ?? Original receipt is included from March of 1973.
This bike has been painstakingly restored and has had a few upgrades to make it more comfortable to ride regularly. The stock carbs have been replaced with later model ZX carbs and the stock ignition has been replaced with a Dyna electronic ignition and Dyna coils. The carbs are perfectly synchronized and these improvements result in a bike that starts easily. idles smoothly. and accelerates linearly.
The original swing arm. engine cases. valve cover. triple tree. fork lowers. and kickstand have all been chromed and are beautiful. The wheels were re-chromed as well and stainless spokes added. A wider 16'' rear wheel has been fitted to further improve the drivability of the bike. There is some slight yellowing of the header pipes near the engine. The tank. side covers. and tailpiece were professionally painted in original Kawasaki factory paint. The paint is absolutely flawless.
It has a NOS tachometer installed and a reproduction speedometer from Z1 Enterprises. The original speedo was broken and the miles were stuck on 15. 00. Everything rubber has been replaced including the grips. nbsp;foot pegs. dust boots. fork seals. intake manifolds. air box assembly. and even the '73 correct ribbed brake line boot.
The seat has been professionally recovered with a cover from Z1 Enterprises and looks perfect. New Barnett clutch plates and friction plates were recently installed as well. The battery was just replaced last month with a maintenance free Yuasa battery. The tires are brand new Dunlops and have only 400 miles on them. The chain and sprockets were converted to a 530 O-ring. The stock mirrors had horrible vibration issues so mirrors from a ZRX are installed in their place. A high quality Pingel petcock has replaced the stock unit. The head has been removed for inspection and the cylinders were slightly honed and new rings were installed as well as NOS Kawasaki gaskets.
While fit for a museum. this bike can be ridden daily with confidence. And every time you stop you will draw a crowd. The uninformed will ask you what kind of new motorcycle you have and those who know what this is will be stunned. Because of it?s ride-ability. you can share this treasure with the world and have the pleasure of riding an absolute classic.
Minor issues: We have balanced the new carbs and the stock exhaust pretty well. but you?ll get an occasional ??pop?? when you chop the throttle. You could argue that we might try different jets and there are a couple of schools of thought on that. We like it the way it is. but you?ll have to decide for yourself if you want to tinker with this. Also. there?s occasional very small oil seepage from the left side stator cover and the oil pressure sensor pipe. We?re perfectionists. and it?s too small for us to mess with at this point. but in the spirit of full disclosure you should be advised.
We?re selling this motorcycle as is with no warranty. and we require a deposit of $500. 00 via PayPal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Full payment will be accepted through wire transfer. certified cashier's check. or cash in person only. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and pick up of motorcycle.
Finally: you would be surprised at how many people place the winning bid on a motorcycle and then discover that they can?t pay. We?ve often wondered how that can happen. but it does. Please don?t be one of those guys. Please don?t bid unless you?re 100% sure you can and will pay.
Please feel free to email any questions about the bike via EBay or don't hesitate to call me. Jerod at (830)237-7507. Good luck bidding!
