Description

1982 Kawasaki KZ 750 CSR (Also known as Z750 Twin and similar to LTD)As far as I'm aware this motorcycle is completely original other than the handle bars which replace the rather outdated apes. Overall I consider the condition pretty good for a machine of its age. She generally starts 2nd or 3rd kick (Sometimes even 1st time!) and sounds ace. All I've really done is strip the carbs and performed a rudimentary check of the engine. brakes. electrics. exhausts. tyres. spokes / wheels. chain etc but I really don't think she's that far off an MOT. I've ridden around the car park and she's a delight. As you can probably see from the photos one side is cosmetically better than the other but I'm sure a touch of wire wool will go a long way to sorting the chrome and engine casings. The nearside exhaust is the worst bit on the whole bike in terms of rust and to be honest it'll never match the other side in terms of shininess. The exhausts blow a bit at the gaskets but neither is holed. The rear light bracket has deteriorated (Pictured). The tank really could use a major clean internally. As I have said I stripped the carbs and she ran fabulously. She pops a bit now however due to fouling of the fuel filter & possibly jets. The fuel system will definately need a once over before she's used properly but she runs and revs so you'll hear how good the engine is. The tank also has a small dent (Pictured) and a few rust bubbles.  The seat is not ripped or marked. The paint is black. original. a bit scratched and faded. All badges are present. The rear tyre has plenty of tread & isn't perished. The front is worn but just about usable. It has an electric starter but it doesn't work. Its not that much of an issue however as she starts so well on the kicker!The keys were mislaid by a friend (Previous owner) so in desperation he used a screw driver in the ignition. so that will need replacing. The fuel tank has a locking cap but many keys fit it. The headlight and front indicators aren't mounted overly well. They work okay however with the odd persuading tap. I bought a set of fork seals but haven't got around to fitting them. They will go with the bike. This motorcycle was last on the road in 2008 I believe. They are growing in popularity. especially modified as a Cafe Racer and frankly I'm gutted that I don't have the space to keep her. As previously stated I really consider her to be an easy machine to put back on the road. I've focused mostly on the bad points (Which to fair are rather minor) and of course I'll answer any questions. Viewing is encouraged. I've included this link. its a review & specs http://www. motorcycleclassics. com/classic-japanese-motorcycles/kawasaki-kz750. aspx#axzz3Fe9QGWo1This too - its a slightly different model but its the kind of build I had in mind http://thebikeshed. cc/2013/07/19/crd-kz-750-twin/Oh yes. to finish. the bike is declared SORN and I have the V5. It was imported and registered in the UK in 1994. I was recently quoted £93 for a years fully comprehensive cover by a classic insurance company.  That was without any no-claims discount. mods or immobiliser. Very acceptable I thought!*** Thanks for Reading - Good Luck & Happy Bidding !!! ***

* Additional Information *

I have decided that it might be a good idea to describe further the road worthiness of this motorcycle.

I have said that I consider it an easy job to get her MOT?ˆ™d. That is my opinion. however but I happen to be reasonably good with a tool kit and I don?ˆ™t mind tinkering!

This 32 year old bike has been stood for 6 years since coming off the road. Therefore it will need attention and is regarded an easy project relative to a bike in a box or something that has had a decade or two of neglect.

AT THE VERY LEAST I imagine that an MOT can be obtained by fixing the lighting. fork. fuel and exhaust issues as outlined above. She could then perhaps be run as a winter hack or some such. replacing or servicing parts if they fail.

IDEALLY you should elaborate on my rudimentary check and strip and clean as much as possible. She?ˆ™s a fairly basic machine so a competent spanner man (Or woman) should be able to check and re-lubricate wheel spindles. steering head bearings & service brakes etc without any hassle.

Those not so competent fear not however!

Mechanically simple & in relatively good condition she?ˆ™s an ideal first ?ˆ?learn about?ˆ™ project too.

REALISTICALLY this bike is begging to be restored fully. either back to standard or as an updated custom. With the frame powder coated. tank & side panels re-sprayed. chrome refurbished and the like she really would be a Kwak to be proud of for decades to come.

* Viewer Observations / Questions Answered *

It has been noted that she is perhaps missing the chrome pillion grab rail.

The nearside exhaust has a kink in the downpipe. I have asked the previous owner and he tells me that it was replaced while touring in France. There was no exact match available and so it is a 'near fit' that was heated and tweaked.

To the best of  our knowledge she hasn't been dropped and there isn't any evidence to suggest that she ever has.

The clutch is good as is the gearbox.

I haven't spotted any oil leaks & she doesn't smoke. rattle or knock.

Once again. please view if possible or feel free to ask questions. The condition can be seen clearly in the photos - zoom in. check'em out and get a feel for her.

Thanks :)
