1991 KAWASAKI ZZR600 D2

I BOUGHT THIS BIKE 15 MONTHS AGO AS APPARANTLY A GOOD RUNNER BUT AFTER I HAD GOT IT HOME I FOUND IT KEPT BREAKING DOWN SO I CHANGED THE COILS AND LEADS (SECOND HAND) FITTED NEW SPARK PLUGS. A NEW BATTERY AND STRIPPED. LEANED AND BALANCED THE CARBS AND SHE HAS RUN BEAUTIFULLY EVER SINCE. SHE FLEW THROUGH HER LAST MOT ONLY NEEDING THE HEADLIGHT AIM ADJUSTED. WITHIN THE LAST FEW MONTHS I HAVE FITTED NEW FRONT BRAKE PADS. CHANGED THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER AND FITTED A NEW BRIDGESTONE T30 REAR TYRE AT A COST OF £130.

COSMETICLY SHE NEEDS SOME WORK. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO SPRAY HER MATT BLACK AS SOME OF THE PAINT WAS LOOKING TIRED. IT LOOKED FANTASTIC WHEN IT WAS FIRST DONE BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DIDNT PREPARE THE PANELS PROPERLY SO THE PAINT HAS FLAKED OFF IN QUITE A FEW PLACES. ( I HAVN'T GOT ROUND TO CHANGING COLOUR ON LOG BOOK YET). EVERY PANEL HAS SOME SORT OF SCRAPE OR CRACK OR BROKEN BRACKET AND ALSO THE FRONT MUDGUARD IS LOOSE AND RATTLES ABOUT EVEN THOUGH ALL THE BOLTS ARE TIGHT? THE SEAT HAS GOT A FEW TEARS WHICH I COVERED IN BLACK TAPE JUST TO STOP THE WATER GETTING INTO THE SPONGE.

MECHANICLY SHE IS FANTASTIC FOR A 23 YEAR OLD BIKE. SHE CAN SIT FOR 2 WEEKS OUT IN THE RAIN AND FIRE UP AT A FLICK OF THE BUTTON. SHE HAS A MOTAD 4 INTO 1 EXHAUST WHICH GIVES MORE POWER AND SHEDS WEIGHT AND STILL SELL FOR GOOD MONEY ON THEIR OWN. THE CENTRE STAND HAS BEEN REMOVED AT SOME POINT BUT I WOULD HAVE REMOVED IT ANYWAY AS THEY HAVE A TENDENCY TO DIG INTO THE GROUND WHEN BANKED OVER. THERE IS A BIT OF AN OIL LEAK FROM SOMEWHERE BEHIND THE STARTER MOTOR BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE BEEN GUNNING IT ON THE MOTORWAY FOR A WHILE. IT DOESNT DRIP OR LEAVE PUDDLES. THE CHOKE LEVER DOESNT STAY ON BY ITSELF BUT I JUST PUT AN ELASTIC BAND ROUND IT WHILE IM WARMING THE ENGINE IN THE MORNINGS. I HAVE PUT SOME BLACK TAPE OVER THE FUEL LIGHT AS IT COMES ON WHEN THERE IS STILL HALF A TANK (COMMON ISSUE) I JUST KNOW TO FILL HER UP AT ABOUT 120 MILES TO BE SAFE AS THERE IS NO RESERVE FUEL ON THESE BIKES.

I DONT REALLY WANT TO SELL HER AS I WAS PLANNING TO TURN HER INTO A STREETFIGHTER BUT I HAVE GOT A NEW JOB WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE AND I NEED MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS SO SHE HAS TO GO.

THE NEW OWNER WILL BE GETTING A BIKE THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO USE STRAIGHT AWAY. I WOULD FEEL CONFIDENT TO RIDE ANY DISTANCE ON HER. THE MOT IS TILL FEB 2015 AND SHE IS TAXED TILL THE END OF DECEMBER ALTHOUGH IM NOT SURE IF THAT TRANSFERS TO THE NEW OWNER NOW THE RULES HAVE CHANGED?

THE BIKE IS SITUATED IN HEDGE END NEAR SOUTHAMPTON AND VEIWING IS WELCOME ALTHOUGH NO TEST RIDES WITHOUT PUTTING THE MONEY IN MY HAND FIRST. ALTHOUGH IF YOU BUY IT AND COME BACK WITHIN AN HOUR FEELING I HAVE NOT DESCRIBED IT FAIRLY THEN I WILL GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK.
