Description

1975 Kawasaki Z1 900 in good restorable condition. Bike starts. runs. and drives well. Current cosmetic condition I would rate a "4" out of 10. Please look at the photos carefully. as I feel that they are a good representation of the condition of this bike. Instead of typing a long description of how "cool" this bike is (or can be). I will instead list all of its "known" faults so you know EXACTLY what you are bidding on and what you are getting into as far as restoration goes. Bike was stored in a shed for many years. so has suffered some of the effects of "time". Engine and Frame are Correct for each other and left the factory together. This is mostly an "Original" bike that has had the usual add-on's over the years. Missing airbox. centerstand. tool kit. and original mufflers. Handlebars are also not original (Black Superbike bars installed)Aftermarket R. C. Engineering (Russ Collins) Exhaust (do not have stock pipes) with typical "road-rash" dent on bottom where 4 pipes meet collector. Seat cover not original (Original Pan is in PERFECTLY SOLID CONDITION)Missing Right side cover. Left side cover has been "trimmed" for the pod filter. Rear duck tail has rattlecan black paint job on top. Gas tank is in NICE original condition with ZERO RUST inside!Brakes work fine. Tires have good tread. but are old and should be replaced. Chain and sprockets appear fine. (never pulled the countershaft cover to inspect small drive sprocket)Most of the chrome is in average condition for its age. Meaning. it more than likely has some rust pitting here and there. The worst rust/chrome on the bike is found on the shock springs and rear wheel spokes Also. the front fender has the flaky/bubbling chrome on top. Once again. ALL of this is clearly shown in the photos!!! Some of the chrome on smaller pieces (handlebar bolts. front wheel. etc) will clean up to be very presentable. Not perfect. but decent "rider quality". Fork ears are slightly bent. but appear to have been straightened (those of you that restore these bikes know what I am referring to). As mentioned above. the engine runs EXCELLENT. No smoke or odd noises. Bike has 33. xx original miles. The left half-mooned shape rubber exhaust cam seal leaks a bit of oil. but the rest of the engine is dry. Great clutch. Great transmission. Starts easy. If I were to keep this bike. I would do a cosmetic restoration. replace the cam cover gaskets. install new tires and RIDE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Once again. this is a RUNNING/DRIVING bike RIGHT NOW! It runs well enough. that I wouldn't hesitate to jump on it and do an "all day". Just needs the typical cosmetic love to bring it back to its former glory!!!I'm sure that I am forgetting something. but the photos should answer any questions. If you DO have any additional questions. please ask BEFORE BIDDING. I will answer any and all questions as I would hope for them to be answered if I were buying a vehicle from long distance. Please know that this bike is for sale locally (and on other websites) as well. and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. I also reserve the right to cancel any bidder that I feel is not a serious prospective buyer or will not follow through. Motorcycle has free and clear Minnesota title.
