Description

Kawasaki H2c 1975.

This beautiful example of the king of  legendary Kawasakitriples has been totally restored to its original (well. very close to. anyway) glory by myself during the last 12 months. In general the bike is in as new condition mechanically and in a very. very nice original condition visually. It has its original engine. as close to matching numbers as Kawasaki goes. Only very few parts have been repainted and renovated. The majority of parts used are parts that were on the bike from the beginning. My intention through this process was to produce a bike that could have been on display at a dealership showroom in. say. 1978. Take a closer look at the pictures and read the description below to fully understand what£s on sale here!

The starting point ( can be seen in the last picture) was a very nice. all original. H2C imported to Sweden by a friend of mine 14 years ago with only 11000 miles on the clock. Some undisclosed engine problems parked the bike after being used for merely a year. Now. a decade later. I came into possession and decided to put it back on the road.

The engine was taken out of the chassis and sent to EBOS/Eptune in Malmoe for rebuilding by my friend Ebbe Parnestahl. No efforts or money were saved in this process. The crank was rebuilt with labseals. new conrods and bearings.   Wiseco pistons (1st oversize) were fitted to fresh bores. Engine cases. cylinders and heads were all beadblasted and treated with steel balls in a vibrating machine (steel ball polishing) to get that fresch "nucast" look we all strive for. New bearings in the gearbox. renovated shift forks and also undercutting of all gears. New clutch (fiber. steel plates and springs) and a brand new SY-TECH clutch release to top it off. The carbs were dismantled and thoroughly cleaned and assembled with new floats. valves and gaskets etc. Engine covers polished by hand for just the correct shine to match the unrestored. original frame. Ignition system checked and cleaned up.  All parts all original. no reprostuff in the ignition system.

During the engine rebuild in Malmoe I concentrated on the chassis. The decision was made NOT to sandblast and powder coat the frame. Took some thinking. but I know the decision was correct. Now it looks just perfect. Not repainted. just perfect. for a 39 year old bike. Front forks restored with new seals and NOS dust slides.  The paint on the tank. side covers and tail piece is also the original factory paint! It has been cleaned. polished and waxed. that£s it! Tank is absolutely rust free on the inside. I have never seen a cleaner inside of an H2 tank before! Side cover emblems are also very nice. used pieces. as is the fuel cap and also the fuel petcock (new seals. strainers  and membrane have been fitted. of course). Oil pump is mounted and works fine. All lines are in good condition and stat-O-seals used everywhere on the banjos. The oil pump is optional since the crank has been built to take premix if preferred.

The exhaust system is all original. NOS rubbers. used clamps and very. very nice stock pipes. No road rash or dings etc. Close to perfect!

Drive chain. sprockets: all new parts (rear sprocket NOS 45 teeth). swing arm sleeves are NOS. nbsp;bushings were just fine with some fresh grease. All brake parts and bearings in the rear wheel checked and measured to be in perfect shape. Front wheel bearings changed. NOS brake caliper. NOS master cylinder and NOS brake splitter combined with very good used original brake hoses complete the front brake set up.

Another set of clocks were sent to a very well renowned Swedish firm specializing in restoration of automotive instruments in order to get km/h scale on the speedo and have a matching set of faces on the dials. The original set (mph) is included in the sale. However NOT restored.

The electric switches on the handlebar were both completely taken apart. cleaned up. greased. slightly refurbished concerning paintjob and then carefully reassembled. NOS choke. tacho and throttle cables fitted. All wiring was intact and in super condition. Ignition lock and seat lock with matching number and original key.  Original. weighted handlebar. NOS mirrors and NOS rubber grips all make the driving experience a real nice one!

All wiring on the bike has been cleaned and checked for problems. Everything works just fine! Flashers are all original Kawasaki items as are three of the stalks. One rear is a repro part. Headlight presently an H4 unit from the seventies. but the sealed beam unit (broken dipped beam) is included. NOS rear light lens fitted.

All chrome parts on the bike are original and has not been rechromed. All very. very nice.

As  you can understand a lot of time and money went in to this bike and frankly. it was never my intention to sell it when I finished the restoration. but now I£m looking for a nice sports car for  me and my family so this beauty has to go.

Even though it looks perfect in pictures (doesn£t everything. ) there are a few issues:

The headlight shell was dented so I had to straighten it and repaint it. You can see where this happened. It is there. but I don£t mind it that much. I mentioned the H4 headlight unit. There is also a small tear in the seat cover. Below the trim at the rear right side. Hardly visible. but it is there. I pondered changing the cover. but decided not to. There is also a small ding in the front fender from hitting the horn (that someone. sometime mounted the wrong way. ) Other than that. the bike looks like a superb H2 1975 in a seventies motorcycle shop.

Here is a link to our discussion forum on Classic Kawasakiclub of Sweden where I posted a thread during the restoration. It£s in Swedish. but youi£ll get the picture looking at the pics.
