Kawasaki ZX6R A1P 636 (2002) Monster MotoGP Replica
A great opportunity to purchase a truly epic one-off motorbike. I bought ??Hutch? mid 2011 and In early 2012 I had the opportunity to rebuild him from the ground up and make him truly mine. As a design engineer (currently in F1) I decided it would be a good challenge to set myself to rebuild him as the bike I had always wanted (a Kawasaki MotoGP bike) and so my good friend and house mate (at the time) allowed me to use his workshop and garage and over the course of three and a half months i stripped. cleaned. reworked and repainted what was an already great motorbike into what can only be described as an impeccably tidy. cherished and loved masterpiece. The only part of the bike I didn't do myself was powder-coating the rear spring to match the aesthetic of the bike. The list of work I undertook is too extensive for this advert but it is suffice to say the only part of the whole bike that was not stripped. cleaned. checked and or renewed where applicable. adjusted. painted and reassembled was the main internals of the engine and gearbox. I documented the project in a short video (link available upon request) that comprises of a photograph being taken every 30 seconds from the corner of the garage. I have also done my best to keep every receipt. not only from the rebuild project but the whole time I have owned him.
The parts that I replaced during the evolution of Hutch are as follows;
Danmoto GP Extreme Exhaust (half the weight of the original end-can and comes with a baffle for pussies)
B1H Header pipes (better flow and almost half the weight of the originals)
New front calipers (Tokico 6 pots ? standard. just better condition than the originals)
Goodridge SS braided hoses. front and rear (Racing setup on the front. i. e one hose per caliper)
New EBC Discs and disc mounting bolts
New clutch (standard)
New chain and sprocket (DID)
Refurbished rear shock absorber
All wheel and steering bearings were replaced with All Balls bearings. Swing arm and other bearings were replaced with standard parts
Adjustable brake levers (colour coded to the bike)
Harris handlebar grips (Ninja themed)
Brake lever protector (as seen on all race bikes)
Tank protector as well as 3M clear protection tank knee pads
New indicators front and rear ? including a custom made number carbon-fibre plate hanger
New battery and starter solenoid
New starter motor
Last year I spent a further month rebuilding the master cylinders and calipers. during this time I stripped the paint to bare castings and repainted in gold. polished the pistons. replaced all seals with genuine seals as well as replacing all bolts and fixtures with stainless steel parts. Coupled with brand new EBC uber-light brake discs and EBC pads it transformed the braking feel of the bike. I also decided to design a bespoke carbon fibre number plate holder that incorporated the rear indicators and was then fabricated by a fellow F1 engineer. Together with having removed the rear grab handles in the major rebuild. cleans-up the lines of the rear of the bike and helps to give it the race-bike look. Since the photographs were taken (late July) I have revised the exhaust hanger and it is now alot neater and wrapped entirely in heat wrap with no visible SS zip ties. The bike will come with the original seat and rear hump (currently on the bike)
Every spring Hutch gets a new set of tyres every year as well as a full service. the usual full set of spark plugs and filters as well as a valve-clearance check and adjustment where needed (rarely). the carbs are also balanced. He also gets two oil changes a year (complete with filters). at least one Redex treatment a year and he is always run on a minimum of 97 RON fuel (V-Power whenever possible).
I purchased him with 24. 00 miles on the clock and he now has around the 44. 00 mark. He has had a new chain in 2012 and this has always been checked. cleaned. lubricated and adjusted and cared for ? just like everything on the bike.
Hutch is my first bike and I have always said I will never sell him and it is with absolute sadness and loathing that I offer him up for sale. Yes. you can buy a ZX6R A1P or another Ninja for less but you won?t be buying Hutch. an extremely loved and cherished bike. with hundreds and hundreds of hours poured into him. If i were to take into account the thousands I have spent on him and my time at £10 per hour then he would be astronomically priced. I need to get a deposit together so I can buy a house and the sale of Hutch would greatly boost that so if you feel you can give him the home he deserves and me the cash that I need to buy a house then please let me know. I am open to sensible offers so please let me know what you think.
This advert will never do Hutch justice. you have to see him and hear him in the flesh to really appreciate all the details and how truly awesome he is. There is also no way to truly describe the sound he makes. He rides. looks and sounds like no other bike!
