1978 Kawasaki KZ1000. Starts and runs well. Built in October of 1977. Green and Gold. 21. 00 miles. Exceptionally clean example of the late 1970's. Discs brakes front and rear. The body work was just painted and clear coated last week by a nationally recognized motorcycle painter in the country. It is stunning. Inside of the tanks was cleaned and has not been filled up with gas as of yet. Here is a list of new items that was put on. New Tank and side cover emblems. New short stem mirrors. New correct seat and grab rail. New Turn signals and short turn signal stems. It has the correct period steering dampener. New Grips. The stock kawasaki handlebars were retained. (many were replaced by a superbike bar) The Kerker Exhaust was polished or ceramically coated with Cermachrome. just completed last week. Pod filters as you can see. jetting to match. The valve cover. the carb tops. clutch cover stator cover. left side cover are all nice chrome. The points cover has been polished. Yes it has points that work very well. The chrome wheels are in excellent condition. This was a garaged motorcycle with a lot of effort into it and it just needs a new great owner that will bring it back to it's pristine condition. It will not take much to get it perfect or near perfect. Most all the hard work was done. I was going to change out the green spark plug wires but elected to do it later if it does not sell. For now it is displayed in my heated shop until it finds a new owner. I have the kick starter lever and a new powder coated center stand I will put on this week. I am a collector of the KZ1000's. Wes Cooley's. Z1's. GS1000's. GPz's. CB750's and now as I am at an age that I would like to thin my herd of vintage bikes. Will be putting them on once a week until they are sold. What is nice about the KZ series is that you can get just about any part for them through the specialty suppliers. They are fun to build up and are a wonderful conversation piece with other vintage enthusiasts. You could own you piece of history now when Lawson. Cooley. McLaughlin. Spencer and other privateers were racing these at Sears Point. Laguna Seca. Willows as well as other race tracks throughout the country. I am happy to help with shipper anyway I can. Happy bidding and best of luck. p />On Dec-16-14 at 14:50:24 PST. seller added the following information:
UPDATE!!!! I just decided to put on a fully refurbished Mikuni 28 mm pumper carb. This one has the accelerator on it. It runs even better. These carbs are like new with all gaskets. new screws. it was ultrasonically cleaned with all new parts. If the bike doesn't sell this week. then I am going to upgrade it more with drilled discs but as I keep building this the price goes up. Can't justify letting it go for less then I have into it with paint. carbs. exhaust. etc.
