Description

Welcome to the listing for my 2009 RC8R track/race bike and please take the time to read all the information below and it should answer all your questions.

Due to a change in personal circumstance and health over the last year or so. I’ve sadly got to sell my 09 R track bike. I’ve postponed the inevitable for as long as possible. but alas. things are what they are and she’s just sitting in the garage collecting dust and that is a waste of the finest bike I’ve ever owned and my loss will be someone’s very worthy gain.

It’s been my bike since June 2011 and has about 5500miles on the clock. It was my street bike for a while. but after doing more trackday’s than road riding on an old RSVR; during the winter of 2013 I decided to swap her over to full on track only. with the intention of finishing the project by spring 2014 and getting loads of fun days in throughout the year. The Mille went onto one of my mates but unfortunately the project stopped and started. thanks to already mentioned issues and this is how she’s sitting at the moment.

The bike has always been maintained regardless of cost. it’s never been down the road or thrown at the scenery. it has all its documents (V5) and keys but is currently under a SORN with no MOT. Everything fitted to the bike is either genuine KTM or quality aftermarket and the list is quite extensive. There are a few other bits and pieces that are included with the sale and which haven’t yet been fitted.

However and to make this perfectly clear. there are no road going parts either fitted or available.  So returning it back to a street bike would require all the parts that entails.

As it stands at the moment. I just needed to do a few more little things and she'd have been 100% finished. But sadly that's not to be and to make sure there is no misunderstanding for any potential buyer. I will outline exactly what there is left to do. Bear in mind here. that the "to do" list is what I personally would have done for some things and others are a necessity.

With that said though and the condition of the whole package. I know what sort of selling price it is realistically worth and whilst I'm open to a sensible offer. I will respectfully decline anything that is a long way from where that needs to be.

Anyways. onto the "to do" list and in no particular order.

1) Get it painted. All the bodywork is brand new and the tank has been prepped back to plastic. Which I did myself. by hand and it was fully painted and undamaged before I did so. but it was looking a bit tired because it was an exchange tank from when I sold off all of the road going parts.

2) Get the Power Commander V custom mapped. I fitted the PCV myself (as I have done with all of my Milles previously) and getting them custom mapped to suit the exhaust. air filter. each cylinder and with the SAS disconnected. is the only way to make the R really sing. Generic PC or Akra maps are usually pretty poor.

3) Change the rear brake hose banjo bolt with the brake light switch over to one without and re-position the fluid reservoir or replace it with a tube reservoir.

4) Fit the full set of GB Racing sliders and case covers that I have for it.

5) Fit two catch bottles.

6) Fit Suter slipper clutch.

7) Fit Samco hose kit.

8) Fit QR Powerparts fuel tank cap.

And that's pretty much it. I could of course. do all of the above and just put the cost onto the selling price but to be honest it's hard enough having to sell it as it is and if I were to finish it off. it would be nigh on impossible to part with her for sure.

I was undecided on what colour scheme to go with. but as long as it wasn't going to be complex or an overly intricate paint job. anywhere between ?300-400 would get it fully painted to a good standard. And to get a custom map built would be around a 150 quid.  So with this expense effectively being passed onto the next owner. I've had to make a concession and how much I want to sell it for. which is only fair I think.

Now moving onto the full spec list.

Full Genuine KTM Powerparts bodykit. which was brand new when fitted up and never seen use. Exhaust port on bottom fairing modded by myself. using quality GRP material and reinforced with a Kevlar layer to neatly match the JC Exhaust. I also did some other reinforcing with Kevlar layers in key areas where there are fasteners positioned. to avoid blowing the fibreglass out and any extra fasteners required are stainless steel.

Genuine KTM IDM race bubble.

JC Exhaust. with heat wrapped headers to prevent heat transfer to bodywork.

BMC race air filter.

Made to measure HEL brake line kit. One of the first they ever made and which became the template for the kits you can now readily buy.

Venhill QA race throttle. which was one of the first they'd ever made for an RC8R and are still special order only.

Akrapovic Powerparts front fender and rear hugger. which are a matt finish.

Carbon chainguard.

Oberon clutch cylinder.

Powerparts side-stand kit.

Powerparts ECU/regulator kit.

Pazzo levers.

Renthal front and rear sprockets & DID gold/gold high spec X-ring chain. All of which have done little mileage.

SES rearsets.

Renthal grips SOFT.

X2 sets TechSpec Gripster snakeskin pads.

Powerparts SAS disable kit.

Powerparts QR fuel tank cap (to be fitted)

Power Commander V (fitted. just needs mapping)

Suspension serviced and set up by MCT in Stowmarket. The rear shock spring was replaced with a softer Ohlins spring and coloured orange by MCT. The bike was set up for my total riding weight of 14. 5st. I have the data sheet provided MCT at the time and the settings are near on perfect for road riding and a couple of clicks either way. see it dialled in for pretty much any track or conditions.

Powerparts Suter slipper clutch (to be fitted) which comes with a new tab washer and new bearing for the thrust plate. Which means the one in the stock plate can stay fitted. I also have the installation instructions.

Brand new Samco hose kit. complete with the Stainless steel hose clip kit (to be fitted)

GB Racing crash protection. both the sliders and crank case covers (to be fitted)

Near new set of RaceTech tyrewarmers.

Spare fuel tank which is half way prepped for paint. so just needs a little elbow grease to finish.

It's also fitted with a Tracker system. Which is specific to this bike for its lifetime and requires a yearly subscription but is worth every penny. I obviously have all the keys and documentation and a wadge of receipts for pretty much everything I've spent on it.

So as you can see. I've invested quite a lot of time and money in the bike since I've had it and whilst the odd small scratch or rub mark to the frame and swingarm are present. they're through nothing other than some use and time over the last four years. Which means you'll be hard pushed to find a better example RC8R trackbike. other than the actual and now rare. Track model. And especially one that's been unused since it's conversion to a full on trackbike.

And lastly.

For anyone wanting to come and view it. that can be arranged obviously. but it's to be on a weekend due to my work commitments and because the bike isn't road legal as such. there is no test ride available.

In the event of a successful viewing and an agreement to buy the bike. I'd require the buyers full name. address and contact details. along with a non-refundable ?100 deposit on the day. With the balance paid by bank transfer. during the next working week and a collection date for the following weekend. This is to allow for getting all the relevant paperwork in place and the balance of the payment to clear in my account.

The above terms are non-negotiable and a safer transaction for both parties and is a format I've always stuck too when selling any of my bikes.

I think that about covers it. but if you have anymore questions then do please get in touch and thanks for looking.
